Heinson has been saying this for a while now. Red's teams had only a few plays but they dominated. Keep it simple!

The problem is, your plays will be transparent pretty quickly, especially in the playoffs.

A good move by Doc and we will see how it pans out on Sunday but just like others I ask why didn't this happen sooner? After the deadline you had a lot of new pieces and should have done it then. If this helps players like Green and others to help out more consistently then it was a great move.

They tend to anyway.  Remember Doc having the C's run Miami's plays at the ASG?  Scouting, breaking down film of plays and players, everything is open for scrutiny to gain an edge.  The team that executes better wins.

No! The team that lets the other execute better loses.

Hope Doc gets rid of that very "special" play where Rondo, at the end of every quarter, dribbles the clock down on the perimeter and then heaves up a 20 ft jumper at the buzzer.

One of my favorites!?! ;)

Sure, but what Red also did was to put in plays where he felt he had advantage in the match-up, and just keep running it.  In that case, it doesn't matter so much that the opponent knows what's coming, our guy is going beat his defender.

Jerry Sloan’s Jazz teams and their pick and roll were as transparent as you could get, but if run effectively it really didn’t matter. They dared you to stop them and beat you down with simple. If run right, our “half” offense will be productive. With Ray, PP, KG, etc on the floor it really won’t matter if they know what we will be doing.

Is it too much to wish for to hope that all the plays where BBD forces jumpers outside his range will be in the eliminated half?!

I hope those 3 "amazing" plays will be dropped:

1. Rondo dribbling the clock down and shooting a contested 20-footer.
2. Big Baby not caring for anyone but himself and hoisting up a nearly blocked mid-range jumper or hook shot.
3. 1 and 2!!!

Maybe that happens sometimes as a result of other players not running complicated plays properly and failing to get open, forcing Rondo to take that last shot.

If it happened infrequently, I might agree with you. However, since it happens so often, I blame Doc for not adjusting to this and having alternatives in place and RR for not driving to the basket and being aggressive. Heck,  a double-teamed Pierce iso has more chance of a successful outcome than RR heaving up 20 footers at the buzzer.

Maybe RR shouldn't end quarters and games and DWest/Arroyo, Ray, Pierce, Green/Baby and KG should. 5 shooters are harder to cover than 4, plus those other guys can all hit their free throws.

mmm, i think Doc keeps all the plays that result in BBD jumpers and Rondo jumpers, and then scraps the ones with screens in them (e.g. all of Ray Allen's looks).

There is a high level of talent in this team. Running simple and less sets and getting them to make their own decisions is the most unpredictable this team can be offensively. Good move doc.
