Points per game allowed on the season: 91.1, a league best.

Points per game given up in the 27 games since the Perkins trade: 91.04.

(Toss out that Bucks' game, if you like, and it's 92.4, which would rank only behind Chicago for the season average.)

Strange how everyone is fixated on the Celtics' defense, post-trade. As Fafnir said, it's the offense that is the real source of concern.

It's too bad Tommy is so far gone

He's a Hall Of Fame player, coach, and analyst. And he's right.

Being a hall of famer is irrelevent to the fact that he is one of the biggest Homers in the game today.  It doesn't take a genius to figure out why guards are flying in for easy layup after easy layup on us now.  The thought that it has nothing to do with Perk's absence is...I can't even think of a kind word for it.
Yet strangely our defense has been just as good without Perkins.

We're falling behind not because people score easily on the C's, but instead that the C's can't score themselves.

No.  Just no.  Chicago, Miami, and Philadelphia all absolutely dominated us in the paint.  We didn't even have a body to try and put on Carlos Boozer, it was just Jeff Green getting ran through

Danny was on the big show yesterday and started laughing out loud when Ordway suggested the trade was  affecting Rondo's play.  Danny said it was rondo's hand and feet that were bothering him as well as him being a bit worn down and pacing himself.  He said a couple of times that he thinks the whole team was pacing themselves down the stretch.

Honestly, DA needs to get into politics. Regardless if this is the truth, he has an answer for EVERYTHING.

This is just wrong. All the stats show that there was no decline in defense in the paint compared to prior to the trade.

Because in the playoffs it's not about what you can do to inferior competition.  It's the big boys vs. the big boys and both Miami and Chicago dominated us since the deals

Because those stats include when we had to play the worst teams in the league, too.  Those are irrelevent.  It's only about Chicago and Miami

So your grand evidence that the trade hurt the celtics are 2 games? Against 2 teams that the celtics beat earlier in the season without Perkins?

Exactly, the celtics soundly beat both of those teams earlier without Perkins, and our defensive numbers have not dropped at all since the trade. The offense has been a disaster, and there is no way to deny that. And again, Perkins was in no way an asset on offense, period. His stone hands, poor shooting, and illegal picks cost us many possessions every game. I think the offensive problems have been due in part to Rondo playing hurt, and pacing himself, and to integrating new players while the starters lost interest in the games.

He was always on the edge, but lately I always feel like he is on the verge of throwing a beer bottle at the referees, and just going completely off the deep end....but he still seems more connected with todays NBA than he has been in years.

I know his wife passed, and he loves doing it,  but you're right I feel like at any possible moment, he could just go after a referee.

I want to see it happen.

I don't.  It would be funny initially,  but it would also be a very sad sad ending to a great career.
But it would also kinda be glorious. I would totally take my kid to that movie
Rofl

I could see it unfolding "What is going on out there??!? I'VE HAD IT THAT'S BOGUS"

Tommy takes off his headgear and charges Bavetta into a chokehold or the ol' fashion knuckle sandwich before being restrained

I have a feeling that when Tommy knows he's calling it quits, he will indeed attack a ref in his last game.

Like everyone else on the team, Tommy is saving it for the playoffs.

This happens when your offense starts their play with 10 seconds left on the shot clock.  That seemed to be the standard format the last 20 games or so.  Especially when teams buckled down in the fourth.

Also, I'm wondering when this becomes worthy of its own thread: "Should Tommy maul a ref?!?"

Sure is funny that KG, Ray, Rondo, and Doc all seem to agree with me.  All of them have discussed how the team is different now and struggling.  We could argue for days about why the team isn't as good...but the fact is we were a better team before the moves than after.  Kendrick Perkins was a much bigger asset to this team than Jeff Green is

funny how you say that they agree with you, but they never mentioned Perk or the trade at all in those statements, and much more recently, have all said that the trade is not the issue.
