He looks explosive.

There must be another video out there besides the one linked above.

If this is Shaq's new standard of "explosive", we're in trouble. ;)

Wow, it's been a while since I heard that. I never realized Shaq's 1st verse is like 32-bars is that song. He just keeps going and going and going.

TP for the memories.

I think we're going to need him, but I'm encouraged by Jermaine O'Neal.  Two weeks ago, I was thinking that we were going to need Shaq 25 mpg night.  After JO played 37 minutes the other night and put a double double with 5 blocks, it's clear that we could probably get by with 15-20 of Shaq and 25-30 mpg of JO if need be (with perhaps a sprinkling of Nenad or Baby).

He looks explosive.  Maybe I was too quick to give up....  But I still say it'll be tough for him to stay healthy.   Knicks in Six.

Sarcasm is like a 2nd language to me, so I'm right there with ya.

Brings back bad memories. Most of this video is our entire team being dunked on.

Is it just me, or does he look a little thinner than earlier this year?

No doubt... he's much slimmer back then.

Pretty fat these days.  Celtic Pride is dead.  Shaq ate it.

It looks like New York is going to be starting Ronny Turiaf alongside Amare.

It'd be nice to have Shaq back to use against Ronny. Gives the C's a nice advantage.

Even Krstic, Jermaine, or BBD should be fine against Turiaf.  From what I saw last night, Turiaf can't defend any of them.
They'll be fine -- Turiaf isn't a problem by any means -- but they wouldn't create the advantage that Shaq would against Turiaf.

I would think that Turiaf can defend JO, Krstic or BBD reasonably well. He has enough size (6-10, 250lbs) and defensive chops to a credible job in the post / paint area against those guys and enough quickness, mobility and length to cover BBD/Krstic away from the rim.

In contrast, Shaq's size (7-1, 300+lbs) creates a major matchup problem for Turiaf. He has no hope of containing him in the post or contesting his other shot attempts around the rim.

None of those guys (BBD, JO, Krstic) are prolific rebounders either so they won't punish Ronny's weak rebounding either. Shaq is a strong rebounder.

Turiaf's limited offensive game does free JO up to be a disruptive help defender though.

The Celtics will fine without Shaq against New York but it'd be nice to have him. It'd cause NY's starting lineup more problems.
frankly you if anything you don't want shaq going up against Turiaf because Turiaf is very capable and willing to commit real hard fouls when going for the blocks.  Shaq is too frail if he lands wrong he is done.

well we got a problem if it's not the other way around and were worried about Turiaf injuring Shaq LOL

What if we asked the Knicks REALLY nicely if they'd just let Shaq stand in his spot and shoot flat footed eight footers? Mike D'Antoni seems like a reasonable dude.

That's actually probably a better defensive plan than D'Antoni has if D'Antoni has any defensive plan at all.

It seems like a waste to put him out there in game one.  I've seen Turiaf commit very hard fouls and when shaq is in the air, even if it is only 3 inches or so he is vulnerable and bad things can happen.  It is an unnecessary risk and I doubt he will play.

man...pre-laker (pre-bulking up) shaq was literally unstoppable. like a bigger, stronger, more skilled dwight howard. they just don't make them like that anymore. his longevity is even more impressive considering how big he got, and how many big men have not lasted.
