The Celtics went from potential lottery pick to nba champs in year one, finalist for eastern conference without KG year two and nba finals in year three because of danny ainge's foresight.  No way he gets an F in any season.
Some of you might not like the trade but it was as they say in the godfather "a business decision" and a good one

It's never a good "business decision" to dismantle the Eastern Conference champions and team who was favored to be heading there again.
We traded an old friend who didn't really help us to our good record this year for the most needed hole in our roster backup sf who can become starter once pierce retires and a 1st round pick.
The way to the finals is against carmelo, lebron and other sf.  PP can't play every game and wafer was next guy on roster.  Second part of trade is nate robinson who wouldn't be used much at all for krstic, 3rd string center.  Delonte back makes nate a towel waiver.
If JO, Shaq and Perk are healthy who is the least productive of the 3?  I see it as a good decision, maybe not the best timing but we can't go into the playoffs with 1 true sf.

I understand your point of view and I partially agree.

A move for a SF needed to be made but all reports were that Cleveland was happy to send us Parker for that Erden and Harangody deal...Parker would have been just as productive as Green has (n't) been.

You say we couldn't go into the post-season with one true SF...but the way I see it is we're going into it now with one true Center...except he's not any good

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Paul Pierce- A-. Probably the most dependable player on the team, but that wasn't saying much this season.  His shot has become more efficient but a lot of his athleticism has clearly faded and it seems to have hurt his ability to get to the hoop and the line

I couldn't disagree with you more about #34's athleticism. IMO, Pierce is in the best shape we have seen in years. He's actually more athletic, dunking more than I can remember, and making some spectacular blocks this season with good timing and some new found hops. He came into the season looking lean, strong and quick, and the fact that he's avoided injury all season is a testament to his offseason conditioning.
