Its an odd thing.

Yes the team is old. Yes there are weaknesses in the core of the team. But this team has earnt respect.

Except all over the blogosphere, from sportswriters and pundits.

We have to remember this team reached the conference finals without KG. And could have WON.

And Baby is a better player than he was then (hard to believe it but he is...).

Analysing this team and its coaching staff gives you the feeling that they like this us against the world vibe.

No I dont believe they tanked the games vs the Bulls or the Heat. I just think they didnt care that much once the going got tough to dig deeper.

Why ? They didnt have to. And thats where a vet team alwways wins out over the non vet team. Its knowing WHEN to push.

So buckle up and prepare for a ride, a ride through which EVERY team who faces us, will be favoured to beat us.

And none of them will.

The league has loved watching our fall from grace.

We've been hated for years now, so for the fans to get to watch our downfall, they're loving it

The way we've been playing of late, I'm not sure we deserve that much respect.  In regards to the national media, our stock is pretty low and its pretty easy to see why.

The Celtics are gonna have to go out and re-earn that respect.  Its not gonna just be handed to them.  Especially when you look at recent events.

Correction:
this team did not reach the conference finals without KG. They lost to the magic in the second round, though they put up more of a fight that the cavs team the magic beat in the ECF.

As for writing the celtics off, I think it is just a matter of hyping the match up against the knicks.

I apologize, ESPN.

I see that you do now, in fact, have an article on your front page about the Lakers recent woes.

And it's by Hollinger.

I would not be surprised if he lurks on this Blog sometimes.

well up until we started getting crushed by bad teams on a regular basis absolutely everyone was singing our praises and talking about how dominant we are. The celtic were the team to beat until people started beating them...
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

I don't know that it's a matter of respect as much as a matter of record. The Celtics are playing around 500 ball and getting crushed by the Bulls and the Heat. They have gone for long periods of times without being able to score (and that's the starters), the bench has been inconsistant, they don't rebound well, and seem to get beat to most loss balls. Rondo shows up for maybe every other game. Ray hasn't gotten near enough shots. All in all they are not playing well, I don't see that reporting that is disrespecting them, it's the truth.

Maybe in the Globe. I can't remember seeing one word of praise on ESPN. At least they could have tried to make it look they were impartial. And there hasn't been much talk about our injuries either, while every time James or Wade miss a game they  are quick to point it out. Oh well. I hope we win it all and stick it in their faces.

Michael Wilbon, Tony Kornheiser, Woody Paige, Tony Reali, Job Barry,  Jalen Rose, Stan Verett, JA adande, Kevin blackistone, and pretty much everyone else i've ever seen on ESPN have been high on the celtics all year. I dont see what you're talking about.

Celtics have gotten more praise on ESPN than any other team.

1) Respect is not given, it is earned.

2) I disagree. The bench has been very consistent....consistently bad.

Agree completely.

I don't even respect us right now like I once did.  We look shaken.

As others have said, the Celtics don't deserve much respect right now.

An objective observer (pretty much nobody on this forum) would have to consider them the 7th or 8th best team going into the playoffs.  They may "flip the switch," but right now they don't appear very formidable.
