Do you think Orlando would make this deal with us?

Celtics send: Ray Allen, BBD (s&s), Avery Bradly, Shaq (retiring), Clippers 1st rd, Celtics 1st rd, 2 future second round draft picks.

Celtics get: Dwight Howard and JJ Reddick

It would leave us with

PG: Rondo/West
SG: Pierce/West/Reddick
SF: Green/Pierce
PF: KG/Green
C: Howard/J.O.

Them we can make a run at some mid level free agents to fill out the rest. allows to compete and rebuild. what do you guys think?

Only way we get him is maybe by free agency, and IMO we have 20% chance being optimistic

Nope.

Only chance is when he is a FA or about to be a FA and he decides he wants to be in Boston.

Then a package built around the draft picks and Green might work.

I have Dreams at night about Dwight in a Celtics jersey w/ Rondo and Green. But, I agree with makaveli id say 20% chance Dwight wants to come here is pretty legit. It'd be fun seeing Dwight & Rondo but... do you really think Dwight wants players to sag off Rondo only to double him EVERYtime up the court?

  • Rondo = Good
Dwight Howard is not coming through that door, not next year, not ever.

After Bias and Lewis' tragedies....the Lean Years...and having to sell the whole farm to get Ray and KG?

We're due.

Look at the recent trades involving franchise players.  They all include young players that are either proven and/or have boatloads of potential.  Jazz got Devin Harris + Favors.  Nuggets got Gallinari + Felton + more.  Avery Bradley is not one of those.  I did propose a similar trade in a different thread.  We would have to do this in the middle of next season.

Dwight + Redick for
Jeff Green (resigned at a fair value contract), Ray Allen, Avery Bradley, 2011 rookie (we draft most talented player available), 2012 first round draft pick, future LAC draft pick, Jermaine Oneal (expiring contract and temporary C depth).

I think Orlando says yes to that package if they don't think Howard will resign.  Honestly.  It's a pretty decent package.  There are teams that could offer better, but Dwight has to agree to an extension for any team to make the deal.  Who knows if he'd agree here, but if he really cares about winning, I can't imagine any better winning situation since most teams become depleted after making trades for huge players like him.
2020 CelticsStrong All-2000s Draft -- Utah Jazz

Finals Starters:  Jason Kidd - Reggie Miller - PJ Tucker - Al Horford - Shaq
Bench:  Rajon Rondo - Trae Young - Marcus Smart - Jaylen Brown -  Peja Stojakovic - Jamal Mashburn - Carlos Boozer - Tristan Thompson - Mehmet Okur

Yep its a must.. Since DA screwed us with "THE TRADE" .  For a make -up ...he needs to trade anyone and everybody , but PP, to get Howard.

Howard , will leave the loser team he is on just like LBJ.

He is "THE " foundation for a banner team. He , like Shaq , will have his day , somewhere in the next few years. And I personally would rather it be in BOSTON than LA.

I love all the old guys on the team now.  But, Its pretty much finished after this season with this group.

Howard at Boston would pretty much secure playoffs , MAX profits , media , crowds ...ect , ect ect.  Boston LOVES DEFENSE and TUff agressive play .....

He would be an instant icon for the Celtics for years.

Danny PLEASE don't screw this up and make me watch him in a LA uniform and think  "WHAT IF"

Might as well sign Gerald Wallace too if we're signing Dwight Howard.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I felt that part of the reason Danny didn't wait until summer to see and resign Perk was because he wanted to participate in the Dwight sweepstakes in 2012.

There is a lot of talk already that D12 would go to New Jersey and play with D-Will. They already have a center in Brook Lopez, so I don't get that but D12 would be an update.

Him going to Brooklyn to play for the Nets seems way more likely than him coming here. I don't think he'd be any better off with that team than the Magic. He would have a better chance winning with us, with Green and Rondo and Pierce.

There is also rumors that he would go to the Knicks...by that point I think Amare's knees will be done so thats futile.

Then the Lakers. That would be the worst possible landing spot.

Of course we have a chance to get Dwight, I just think it is highly unlikely...but given the fact that we gave up a solid center in Perk, Danny needs to throw everything but the kitchen sink to try and make that happen.

Otis Smith is dumb, but not that dumb. No way is he going to give up Dwight Howard for a 36 year old Ray Allen, an undersized PF, and a couple of low 1st/2nd round draft picks.

To even get the coversation going it would have to start with Rondo, which kind of defeats the purpose. The only way to get DH is through FA imo.
