Let's hope that the Celtics still have some pride left. For heaven's sake, they are basically saying the rest of these guys got their toughness and grit from Perk and Perk alone. KG and JO should be particularly p---ed. They are getting called out across the league...

That's a great point. It's why, after the O'Neal foul on LeBron yesterday, I was optimistic. But then the Celtics couldn't get a rebound the rest of the game. . .

C's won the first 2 games vs MIA this season w/o Perk.  He only played in the third game.  So Bosh's comment basically means nothing.

Anyways these comments by Rose and Bosh are all somewhat taken out of context.  The reports are obviously pushing them to address the trade; what else are they going to say?

Even though Perk was hurt he was still with the team, on the bench, in the locker room, and the chemistry and the strong bond the team shared was there all the time. People don't seem to realize how big of a factor that is. The players were playing these teams knowing that Perk would soon come back and make them better. They were still the big bad Celtics, now they are just the less intimidating Celtics.

And Shaq hasnt seen the floor in over 2 months, Im unfortunately not putting much faith in the big guy.

How did the C's go 27-27 down the stretch last year with a healthy Perkins?  He wasn't just in the locker room, and with the team; he was actually on the court and contributing to games then.

That's a good point.  we'll see if all of this 'toughness' chatter serves as any motivation for the team in the playoffs.  so far it hasn't.

I think the rest of the league sees some self-doubt on the part of the Cs, and are more than happy to plant more of those same seeds.  Just gamesmanship for the most part...they are tickled that we are struggling, and while they won't rub it in too much, they will be happy to question our once-vaunted toughness.....

Add Bosh to the list of people who have thus far accomplished nothing in this league....
Celtics fan for life.

The team was injured, and was admittedly coasting at the direction of Doc and the front office.  The goal seemed to be to get healthy before the playoffs, and the lack of effort was visible on the court.

This year, it just looks different.  The effort seems to be there (from everyone but Rondo, at least), but the results have been largely terrible.  Doc is calling the team out, the players are getting frustrated, the team lacks an "identity" for the first time in four seasons, and the chemistry just isn't there.  Coincidentally or not, this slide seems to coincide with the trade.

Ok guys, if it wasn't the trades that happened that day then why do we suck so bad right after them? And we do suck by the way. Both the Heat and Bulls are better then us right now.

And don't say Shaq. He's not been a factor in most of the big games we've won.

How was Shaq not a factor? Not even in the same way Perkins was?

Mind games that everyone is trying to play with the Celtics. Kind of pathetic if actually works against these Celtics.

It's like the ultimate ultimate casual fan being asked why the Celtics have been doing bad. Last year it was because they were "SOOOO OLD" this year it's because "THEY TRADED PERKINS!!!".

But then when you watch the games and if you know that Perkins barely played this year (and was on our horrible regular season team last year) and realize "wow it's hard to believe that Perkins's is the root of all our problems"

It truly is amazing how so many players from so many other teams have said the same thing about the team since the Perk trade. I don't think they are making it up. Intangibles and toughness are what Perk brought to the game -- two things the team is lacking right now. I am still behind this team, but honestly will be shocked if they get to the NBA finals again.

Very true.  When Chris Bosh is the tough guy on the floor, you know there's an issue

Perk played what?  1 game against the Heat?  This is just piling on by Bosh, and rationalizations by teams trying to give themselves confidence.

The loss of Semih Erden is really killing this team...

We miss Perk's defense and toughness but this post is also true.  At the open practice during the preseason, Perk was only able to pull his stationary bike to the edge of the court and peddle.  But he was working up a major sweat and working super hard.  All the players seemed to gravitate to him, and Perk yelled encouraging things to his scrimaging teammates.  The loss of intangibles is huge.  And the addition of soft sleepwalkers like Green and Kristic only makes it worse.

Even though Perk was hurt he was still with the team, on the bench, in the locker room, and the chemistry and the strong bond the team shared was there all the time. People don't seem to realize how big of a factor that is. The players were playing these teams knowing that Perk would soon come back and make them better.
