All the focus on Jeff Green is misplaced. People are upset with the lack of rebounding and so it must be Jeff Greens fault. Green was not brought here to rebound, he was brought here to run with Rondo on the wings and to spell Pierce. When he is playing SF his is not going to be in a good position to rebound. If he is releasing to get the quick outlet from Rondo his guy is free to crash the glass for the offensive board; but that is not his fault. Kristic and Green played excellent when they got here. Much of their inconsistency have been either playing in a new system or in Green's case playing a new position.

They will both be fine and can help this team; but they are not replacing Perk that was Shaq and JO's role and they have both shown that they can fill that role when healthy.

The trade was a shocker to every Celtics fan. We hated to see Perk go, and I also hated to see Nate, Quis (although he was out for the year), Luke and specially Semih, who played with heart and through pain.

Under the emotional lense, the trade is bad. Period.

Then, we have two questions to answer.

First is if the trade hurts our chances to win this year. Some people are sure about the answer, they say "yes". It seems like they're right, because of the way the Cs are playing, but I think the answer is no. Yogi and Csfansincethe60s have explained why, so I won't try to do so. Anyway, we'll see what's the outcome. If they win it all, no problem, we'll party and give praise to Danny and Doc. If they don't we'll argue if standing pat would guarantee #18... and it won't make sense at all.

Second question. How does the trade affect to the future of the Celtics? I think that, by not extending Perk, the Celtics will enter the possible lockout and upcoming offseason in a better position. Uncertainty could allow Danny to bring back Baby and/or Nenad on team-friendly deals, and Jeff Green could be back to play for the QO. That sets the Celtics in a much better position in the summer of KG, and the trade deadline and Draft before that 2012 summer.

IMO, Danny always thinks big, so I'm expecting what's next. He's traded Perk for the chips he'll need to reshape the team. By 2012 draft we'll have a better idea on how the trade will pay out. It's still to be seen, and we should be patient.

This playoff run is a bonus, we had chances to be #1, but we didn't have enough healthy players. It'd have been possible to play 8 men rotation and get our players (except Daniels) back, then get Sasha, or another wing player to play Quisy's minutes. Of course, we can't be sure about that, so we can't say #18 was a sure thing before the trade. It'd have taken a hard fight in that case, and it will take a hard fight now.

Green and Nenad will make significant contributions in this playoff run, for sure. And when Doc stops messing with minutes, Baby will play 18-20 power minutes within his role. Still, #18 is 14 wins away. Let's get them, Celtics!! Go Celtics!!!
