I feel like the NBA undervalues defensive players( the TAs, Batties, Dante Jones,Kendrick Perkins, Bruce Bowens of this world) and overpays for offense through guys like Nick Young, Blantche,Jamal Crawford, Jeff Green ...but I digress..

Tony is my choice because you can give Ray Allen/PP a break and know that the guy he is checking will not explode for 15points in 8minutes, including Kobe and LeBron. And that means any offense you get from Tony only becomes a bonus. However, Jeff's putrid defense leaves you with the hope that he outscores on the other end. Sounds likea perfect fit to the NY Knicks.

I'll take Jeff Green. He may not be as defensive-minded as TA, but he has a much higher ceiling.

From what I see, he is providing solid minutes off the bench spelling Paul.

And he has done it with no issues...demands for playing time (TA)....

I love Tony Allen, but there's absolutely no way he's a B+ on fast breaks. He can throw down an uncontested thunder dunk, but elsewise he can be a bit of a nightmare.

Green, without hesitation.  24 yrs old, and just starting out in the league.  His size, length, and ability create problems in themselves.  Now let Paul and Co. teach him the NBA ropes and boom, gem in the making.

The grades seem a little arbitrary. At times, TA was the worst offensive player in NBA history. I loved when he had a strong finish at the hoop, but I had to close my eyes whenever I saw him dribble the ball or take an outside shot.

I realize his strength was obviously his defense, though, not his offense. He is the kind of scrappy player you like to have on a team, but Jeff is so much more complete and obviously the superior player. For such a polarizing figure, I am surprised it is as close as it is.

I assume TA was also closing his eyes, hence all the dribbles off his feet....

Let's see Tony Allen so far in the playoffs have made great plays on offense as well as boneheaded plays on offense. On defense he's been an absolute pest and one of the best defenders on the opposing wing player. Jeff Green so far on offense, mediocre shot, turnover prone. Jeff Green on defense- soft, provides few rebounds, one of the worst defenders I've seen in the playoffs, and getting lit up by the likes of shawne williams, roger mason and james jones. I'll take gerald green over jeff green.

  • Rondo = Good
Jeff Green clearly just isn't meant to be on this sort of a team, in this kind of spotlight.  At least not at this point in his career.  He needs lots of minutes in a low pressure situation.  He has no confidence or consistency at the moment.

I can't believe I'm saying this but... TA.

Tony "The Human Heart Attack" Allen
Tony "The Dumbest Man in the NBA" Allen
Two-Dribble Tony (because that was his limit before he bounced it off his foot)

Jeff Green... he may be even dumber than TA.  At least Tony was aggressive, for better or worse (often worse), and he could DEFEND.  Green is a pylon.
