One thing has become apparently clear. The real brains behind the operation was Thibodeau. Doc is definitely a “players coach” and I think does a solid job, but  Thibodeau was the reason we were ultimately successful. All you have to do is look at how our defense has slipped, and look at how Chicago’s has jumped. The best thing that could have happened to us this past off season would have been to have Doc decide he wanted to stay home, and promoted Thibs. That is our biggest loss...

Yeah.  I think we lost a lot when we lost Thibs.

While I don't agree that Thibs was "the reason", he was fundamental to our success. I think he deserves credit and he's showing how good a coach he is in Chicago.

But in the end, it's the players, and the Celtics have the better team. It's also unfair not giving credit to Doc in the X and O's, and minutes management (in the playoffs, not in these last games). Doc isn't a slouch either.

TP for the Thibodeau love.

I'd be shocked if Thibodeau isn't voted Coach of the Year at this point, glad to see he's proven that he can be a head coach at this level.

The only thing I wonder about is how long he can stay with one team.  By many accounts, he can have an abrasive, in your face style, which grates on players...most coaches like that often last only a few years with a team before the players get sick of it.  Sure, it's year one and they're in first place, so no problem.  But what happens if they start struggling?

I love Thibs, not so sure he was a necessity to the Celtics success, but he was a very good assistant coach.  He's doing a great job in Chicago and if it's not us who knock Miami off I hope it's him.
do it

He played a major part in our Championship runs - always going to have love for Thibs.  I'd much rather see Chicago emerge from the East than Miami
