I can't fault Danny's thinking this past off-season. Shaq, JO, Delonte, Wafer, and a returning Nate and Marquis was a good haul. Sure, there were some gambles in there, and in hindsight I think we've missed Tony, but Danny's reasoning was solid. Unfortunately, injuries really hurt most of those guys, and Nate never really found his groove here.
I do think Danny miscalculated with the trade, and I think he had a horrible off-season in 2008. Other than those two missteps, though, he's been solid.
I guess I understand the critique that not a lot of guys have exceeded expectations, but at the same time it's always going to be hard to live up to the expectations of Boston fans seeking championship caliber play.
