Okay, so I never post on Celticsblog, but I've noticed a trend ever since the trade. After every loss the forum topics are full of topics about everything the C's are doing wrong, but when we win, everyone is positive and feeling great about where we stand. We're all big fans, and that's why our emotions are so influenced by these games. But for the first time, I took a step back and realized that this game taught us nothing we don't already know. Rose is amazing. The C's play when they feel like it. But we've seen this before. We saw it MUCH worse than this at the end of last year. The C's looked bored at the end of the 2010 regular season. We knew it would happen again.

The importance of homecourt was emphasized before the start of this season, so that's why we're not 4th in the standings again. But the playoffs are a different game. The C's know this. We know this. And more importantly, the Bulls know this and are trying so hard to hold that 1st seed because they can't beat the Celtics without it. Look, the Bulls are good - I think everyone will agree. And the Celtics have flaws, for sure. But we lost one game on the Bulls floor and we KNEW that they would be more motivated than the Celtics for this game. Let's take a breather for a second. If we can pull off the 2nd seed, we're have home-court against the Sixers and Heat, who we've destroyed this season. Then we'll most likely see the Bulls and Rose, who still hasn't won a playoff series, against the underdog (at least, according to ESPN), motivated Celtics. We have the Spurs number, and if we can manage a better record than the Lakers, look out.

Just breathe, Celticsblog.

Good post, except for the title. There's too much labeling of opinions, and people assuming that their opinions are the ones based in reality leads to issues.  Nobody here can predict thefuture, so let's just call our opinions opinions, and leave it at that.

Good post (agree with Roy on the title though...we are all realists, it is just our own reality).

One thing to point out though.  This is nothing new since the trade.  Particularly later in the season, these emotional swings by posters have always been there.  Look back the last couple years, and you will see the same thing.  Losses are exposing major weaknesses, and wins are confirmations of the teams greatness.

Yeah, looking back, I should've chosen a different title. What I posted is merely an opinion, but I do feel strongly about it. At this point, I'm just waiting for the playoffs to start because that's when we'll know what the team is really made of.

The Cavs beat us on their floor last year too, it happens with good teams.

I do think we need to keep KG on Boozer as much as possible, and more minutes for Jermaine/Shaq to beat the Bulls if we meet them in the playoffs.

TP, Jbsprinter, I like your realism  ;)

This team deserves criticism, but they also deserve credit. They know how to win in the playoffs, and it will show once every game counts.

Go Celtics!!

Nice bit of realism.  I agree wholeheartedly that there's no need to panic over tonight's loss to the Bulls.

TP for you.

Actually, I believe the Cavs absolutely embarrassed us on their home floor.  It was actually reminiscent of last nights game, with the way they absolutely stepped on the C's throats down the stretch.

That's Celticsblog for ya though.  It's wouldn't be the same community if it didn't have passionate posters who react after every game, good or bad.  A portion of the population here enjoy their fan-hood by riding the wave of highs and lows throughout the season, and it will probably always be that way.  Everyone gets to enjoy the Celtics how they please, and I suggest (as I often do myself) that you take a short break from the blog for a few hours after a loss, especially if the negativity your sensing from other posters is bothering you.

Reality is...I can predict the future.

1. The Sun will come out tomorrow.
2. New topics either liking or hating the trade will be created every day for the rest of this year.
3. I will still be as broke. or broker then I am right now this time next year.
4. Gerald Green will be mentioned somewhere on this site within the next five minutes.

I like the OP. One thing that a lot of people fail to realize is that teams also lose in the playoffs. If this had been game 1 of the ECF would people have reacted the same way? I don't think so because they would look at it as the first game in the series on the road.

The playoffs is a whole different story and we will all see this in over a week. The Cs are a team that make adjustments and this loss will help them understand how to deal with Chicago.

I also think that facing the bulls on the road in the ECF will shift the pressure to them instead of the Cs because it will be more important for Chicago to win the first two games on their court.

So before people start worrying too much, just remember that the Cs (in this era) have never swept a series therefore it is pointless to overreact or to overanalyze a loss.

let's be patient with this group!

Hey, I still love the celtics, and I love this team's chances in the playoffs. I just don't think Rondo has a heart, and I don't think he'll get one anytime soon.

  • Rondo = Good
1.  The Celtics will not have HCA after the 2nd round.  It's very likely they won't have it after the 1st round.

2. The Celtics aren't going to defeat the Lakers without HCA.

3. Despite #2, the Celtics will probably have to defeat the Lakers without HCA in order to win it all this year.
