Doc for Shaq's injury! You do not let a 350lb 349lb, 39y.o., and a career starter get warmed up only to sit on the bench and wait to come in! When Shaq was loose Doc should have started him... forget about hurt feelings, especially if (healthy) Shaq will be the starter!! Doc played with fire, hopefully we all won't get burned!

I would like for everyone to give their opinion in a civil manner, please... DISCUSS!

BTW: If everyone reams me over this theory, I have a fail safe. It happened because of RACISM! What, I need a reason to say it's racism? Do you watch the news? You can use racism in any (irrelevant) situation and it works! Why can't I use it here?

(obviously the last part is a joke, just thought we could use a bit of levity in a situation like this.)

It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

You actually have a point.

I had less of a problem with that and more of a problem with Shaq sitting down for a few minutes b/w quarters and coming back in for a second stint. It's the play-rest-play in about a 10 minute span that seemed dangerous to me.  If not starting was what did it the injury probably would have come earlier.

You're just saying that because Doc is a MAN.  Sexist! :P

With time to reflect I blame myself for walking away from the t.v. for those thirty seconds when he got hurt and being very confused/scared when I came back and he was hobbling down to the locker room.

Thankfully it looks like he's gonna play tomorrow, so...

If Shaq physically cannot handle getting warmed up and being called on to play in sporadic bursts what good is he to this team? He's going to be a 10-20 minute player at most based on match ups.

Hahaha, TP. :)

I do think Shaq should have started (I coulda sworn that was the plan all along...), but I agree with Fafnir. I doubt him having to sit for a while was the main reason.

Definitely starting and stopping is the problem. Whether it was from warm-ups or between quarters, I just don't think Doc took into consideration who it was he was starting and stopping. If he was only going to give Shaq 10 minutes (his first game back, w/ supposedly no practices), it should have been 5 to start the game (after getting loose) and 5 to start the second half (again, after warming up)!

If Shaq is so fragile that he can only play 5 minutes to start halves he shouldn't even be trying to play.

The point of him coming back is to set our playoff rotation, if he's going to get hurt playing his role in the rotation I'd rather he do so now honestly. Give the team time to adjust and get ready without him.

It's not that he CAN'T do it... it's his FIRST game back, he didn't practice. Do ballerinas start jumping around on stage w/o warming up? Basketball players have to do a lot of moving/jumping... you can't realistically ask an old fat man (as some say), who has never had to do it before to try and do it with no previous practicing.

If your getting paid to play in the NBA, starting and stopping shouldn't be a problem.  If you can't do that, you shouldn't be out there.  You should be home watching like the rest of us fat arses

LOl, it's not about him being fragile. It's about how much time he has had to practice/play... you have to take into consideration it's SHAQ coming off injuries (not the average athlete). I wasn't suggesting he only play 10 minutes (Doc said that is all), I am concerned WHEN he got those minutes (Whether he played 20+ or not)!

Pretty much, although I assure you I don't resemble anything that can be considered "fat".  :D
