They just showed Shaq walking by himself leaving the arena.

He was limping, but it's a good sign to see him walking on his own.

Yup, very encouraging sign.

Sure is.

If he's done sign Magnum Rolle or that Chris Johnson guy

All the Celtics need is another big body. And them being younger doesn't hurt

No point.  It's to late for them to play in the playoffs and they wouldnt make the playoff roster anyways.

Chris Johnson was signed by Portland a few weeks ago.

Just rest Shaq until the playoffs, and hope he gets healthy enough to make some kind of meaningful contribution.

No point at this stage in the season really.

its a right calf strain...not sure why everyone loves to jump to the worst possible conclusions...

Shaq will be back by the playoffs IMO...theyll probably use the first round to get his game speed back(the knicks/Philly are weak inside) I expect well get 10-15mins a game from him(go right to him offensively, then rest the guy), maybe 15-20mins from JO and the rest Baby

he looked real good before he went down

I feel like some people are still fixated on the Perk issue, which I think alters some people's opinions negatively.  And I think some people still assume the worst after KG (though in their defense, if Danny was going to lie, now would be the time to).

I'm just fine going in the playoffs with a healthy Jermaine O'Neal and Krstic. Anything we can get off of Shaq is gravy.
#1 JO is not going to be THAT healthy
#2 Krstic is not going to help much at all defensively or offensively
How can you been fine with those two manning the middle? We have 1% chance of winning with those two holding down the center position.  It is incredible that Ainge dumped Perk when we were so prone to getting injured...it simply made no sense in terms of winning this season.
#1 He is can be healthy enough to give you at least as many minutes as Shaq, and he's already the best defender of the lot.

#2 Nenad Krstic has gone from being severely overrated after the first 5 games, to being severely underrated after the subsequent 5.

Yes, I am perfectly fine with those two manning the middle -- but I guess Celtics fans will be unhappy with anything less than Dwight Howard starting and Tim Duncan backing him up.

This is no big deal. After that long out something like this minor injury was bound to happen. He looked great while out there and a couple days of rehab will be fine. Strains are no big deal. Very encouraged about JO holding down the fort until Shaq is in better shape. This is exactly why they said he'd only play 3-4 games before the playoffs.

Yeah, but there is still an elephant in the room.

Can the Celtics even expect Shaq to provide meaningful minutes during the playoffs without reinjuring himself?

Question of the year for the Celtics.

Let's hope so.

You better believe it.  Id take Perk + Semih any day, those two are born Celtics!  Besides, Dwight gets way too many techs and Cs just beat up on the Spurs, ergo, Tim Duncan is just not that good, even as a backup. Plus it would take too much salary to match Timmy's, so yes, I'd be unhappy with that combo of Dwight + Duncan.

jk.  tried to make is sound convincing though ;)

As fat as he is these days we'd probably get lots of gravy off him.

He's done. You don't come back and get hurt like that and then give us anything come playoff time. He can't even make it a whole regular season game against a scrub team. Wait until a real team starts hitting him.

According to Doc, it's only a minor strain.

i think what happened today was NOT a fluke, if the injury is not serious he should be back in time to get reinjured in the first or second round of the playoffs...we should not even use him until we see the lakers, at least he can give us 1 or 2 games in the finals if we are lucky.

How do they know the muscle is just strained and not a slight tear or something?

You would think they'd do a MRI maybe if it was that bad he wouldn't be able to extend or even stand on his leg
