lol i'm officially ready to say this was the worst aquisition evar.

Well, I don't know about that...we rode Shaq's back for the first couple of months this season...had a pretty good record, too.

Plus - he signed for the vet min.

I'd say that even in worst case scenario he doesn't return and we win Banner 18 (which is still very possible)....we got our money's worth from Shaquille O'Neal, and he would very much deserve to be on that podium with the rest of our players celebrating.

Well, I think we can all give up on depending on Shaq in the post-season.

Injured players for Celtics this season who have missed games

Rajon Rondo
Kevin Garnett
Shaquille O'Neal
Jermaine O'Neal
Delonte West
Glen Davis
Nenad Krstic
Troy Murphy
Semih Erden
Kendrick Perkins
Marquis Daniels
Nate Robinson
Delonte West Again
Shaq again
Shaq again

At least we have an excuse as to why we didnt win it all this year. Oh well, 08 was beautiful :P

I'd say we have about as good a chance as the Hawks to win it all at this point.
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

Nah, a bit better than the Hawks.  I'd say we're on par with the Magic, Thunder, and Mavs, all things considered.

We're in the tier below the Lakers, Bulls, Heat, and Spurs.

I think if we don't win it all this year there won't be any one particular thing we can blame it on, aside from the team simply being too old and too reliant on injury prone players.

I see where you're coming from but I completely disagree. So what if he helped us win 20 games. He's been injured basically all year and at this point you gotta assume he's close to done. Hindsight is always 20/20 but we should have gone after someone else. We basically put all our eggs in one basket by signing shaq and then trading perkins and it didn't pay off. I don't hold it against Shaq, if it's anyones fault it's DA's but you cant fault him for taking the risk, when healthy Shaq was playing really well.

Yea, your estimate is probably more accurate, I just found out about the Shaq thing 5 minutes ago so I havent really digested it yet, still irritated :P

But for the vet min? I won't complain. He's been a bargain, to me.

If what Danny is saying is correct as far as Shaq's injury, then I'd bet the farm that we see the Big Fella again this season.

My Friend has been an athletic trainer for 2 D1 Colleges and 1 D3 College.  He has successfully diagnosed Brady's, Welker's and other injuries from watching tv live.  He also successfully called KG's Calf strain earlier this year.

He says its a torn Achilles.

I don't buy that.

Very hard to call an injury from watching TV even if he got all the previous injuries right.

Celtics' turn on switch for the playoffs: the last bastion of hope for battered Celtic fans.

Not to freak any one out more, but take look at this video of David Beckham tearing his achillies

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-kEJUdaJF4

it looks eerily similar to the way shaq reacted

I'm just fine going in the playoffs with a healthy Jermaine O'Neal and Krstic. Anything we can get off of Shaq is gravy.

you don't have to buy it or not, I was just throwing it out there.  I hope its not but i fear we may have just seen the end of shaq's bball career

Hopefully this is no big deal.  Otherwise, I'm very concerned.

And let's wait.  I think too many people are overreacting prematurely.  This could be very bad or very minor.

Let's not forget Pierce being wheeled off the floor in the 2008 finals only to come back a few minutes later.
