tommy knows felger is a fraud. and tommy is never wrong.
I'd take Felger over Tanguay any day on any topic. Tommy was just trying to stick up for his guy. Then of course you have the genius commentary of Donny as well.  I think Donny and Tanguay are good for putting me to sleep, but nothing resembling sports commentary.

When was the last time you were like "Wow.  Tanguay and Donnie have really interesting and thought provoking insight. I could never have come up with that on my own. Wow they really understand this stuff. They really add to my understanding of the Celts?"

Cmon.

Of course you would take Felger over Tanguay, you two take very similar stances on alot of things.
We call it being right

Well he never said Mark Sanchez was better than Brady
Problem Felger and I both suffer from.  Misquoting. I said Sanchez totally outplayed Brady despite all the disadvantages and that we probably would have been better off with a high school quarterback like Jeff Driskel that night.

And I was right.   Felger and I can't help it sometimes.

Tanguay would be like  "Well the Patriots lost tonight. They didn't play their best. Hopefully they'll play better next year"

Felger   "What the hell happened to Brady?  Did you see him out there?  Did you see how he was totally out of sync? Refused to scramble when he had all day. Was just plain throwing the ball to the wrong place as though he didn't know the game plan?  He's never been like that before. There must actually be a reason. He hasn't won a playoff game in 3 chances now. There might be more of this before there's less.  What's the natural conclusion? What do we do for the future?"

Then it's all hater this, negativity that.

Felger is a real live sports personality. Tanguay is a puppet who wanted to be a muppet, but wasn't good enough and then failed to make in on Crank Yankers too.

But it's not just how he talks. It's the plain fact that he doesn't know enough about basketball to cover the Celtics and be a credible analyst.
My wife knows almost nothing about basketball, but 100% of the time she opens her mouth she states something far more intelligent than Tanguay would. Like maybe...."That white guy (Krstic) is skinny...they don't have a better player than him?"

Honey, that's what I've been saying for weeks.

or  "He keeps shooting and missing (Baby). Why does the coach let him keep doing that? Why doesn't he tell him to stop?"

He's a bum and really annoying
But he exists. That's the thing. He thinks therefore he exists as a thinking entity.

Tanguay needs to be chopped up and put into the firewood pile with Pinnochio and Woody after their acting days are over.

Donny just needs to be made to go away.  We may need to go to the Godfather's daughter's wedding on that one.

There are ways to present your opinion without dimismissing any other take on a subject. Felger does not know how to do that. He is a db even though I agree with him on some of his takes on hockey and football. Bball he knows nothing so he uses his "gut" alot.

I don't know how old you guys are, but if you remember
the Bruins when they were on Channel 38, and watched
Johnny Pierson in between periods, you certainly would
not be saying that FELGER knows anything about hockey.
He doesn't. All he knows how to do is carp on the current
statuses of players and make speculations, and of course
hit the right nerve endings to provoke response.
He learned in school, not on the court, rink, or field.
That's why I respect some guys opinions more than others,
and Felger deserves NONE at all because he shows none.

Felger and Mazz is my favorite radio show and Felger is probably my favorite media personality.  He plays a role and plays it very well and he is insightful when he is talking about the sports he knows - football and hockey.

But when it comes to basketball Felger is an idiot.  For that matter so is Mazz.  While I love that show, I won't listen to either of them talk hoops.  Thankfully, I hate most basketball media; love the game and the playoffs but the regular season drags on and lacks story lines.

I literally could not care less about local media personalities.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Say what you want about Felger but he really goes out on a limb and he is right A LOT.

He was right about Manny when Francona called him an idiot, he was right about Randy Moss when the whole New England area called him an idiot, I think he is going to end up being right about this ongoing Rondo issue, and I am glad there is someone out there that will discuss it.

Yeah those were really hard ones to call.  He was also right a few years ago when he said "The Celtics will not win without Kevin Garnet". LOL   or when he said "The Patriots did not play well" after their loss in postseason.   So in a sense he is right some of the time.

But you miss the whole point.  Felga at best, is that guy you bring in just to spice it up.  As a lead sports anchor he doesn't cut it.  Never has, never will.

Is there no one else in the Bay State or all of New England to replace him?

I just had to bring this one to the top of the pile after the rant I heard this afternoon on 98.5.  Felger simply won't let go of his opposition to the trade and his distain for Ainge in general.  You know, he may turn out to be right, but man I am sick of it.  Now he's ragging on Shaq as well and calling Ainge dumb.  Just GET OVER IT MAN.  You could tell Mazz was a bit embarrassed.

Felger is kind of annoying when it comes to the Celts. But he hates basketball in general.

I figured that Bostonians would hate Maz more then they hate Felger. I'm a huge Celts fan, but I dont live in Mass so I listen to 98.5 online. What really surprises me is how obvious it is that Maz thinks he's much more intelligent then Boston sports fans. I've noticed that he often puts on a fake Boston accent and then says dumb things as if he's immatating Boston sports fans. When he uses the fake accent, he never says anything intelligent. Its always something absurd. To an outsider, its seems blatantly obvious that he's patronizing all you Boston sports fans. He must feel that he's far superior to all you Boston fans. And I'm amazed that nobody has ever called up the show and called him out on it. Maybe you guys havent picked up on what he's doing, but as someone listening from another state, its so obvious that he's patronizing you guys.

So I guess I was just wondering if any of you guys who live in Mass, have picked up on what he's doing. I have never heard Felger do anything like this, but Maz does it numerous times each show. If I lived in Mass I think I would've called up the show already and asked him why he feels he's so superior Boston sports fans.

He was ripping on Shaq something fierce today.  To the point of just sounding kind of mean.  He must have been a joy on the playground as a kid.

I think its safe to say that felger was probably beaten right through high school.  It would do him well to run into shaq late night after running his mouth with no one around.
felger shouldn't even be discussed here, his game is to irritate so he's noticed

Was that the thing where he was like "imagine a stadium full of 20,000 Tommy Heinsohns that all they can do is cry about officiating all rising up as one to cry about a call"?

I heard that. Thought he had half a point
