Interesting article: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/648664-why-tom-thibodeau-will-prevent-the-chicago-bulls-from-a-winning-a-playoff-series

The article gives the perspective of the Bulls being "out of gas". Not sure I agree with it...but I wouldn't expect Thibodeau to demand anything less than the hardest of work from his players...the guy is a tireless worker himself.

One thing I didn't consider is HOW Rose got his ulcers...I just assumed it was from the spicy food he eats...but Ibuprofen makes a little more sense

Counterpoint:  the '08 Celtics played hard for pretty much all 82 games, and were much older than the Bulls.  They held up just fine.

I have been thinking the same thing!!

Also something that would be a detriment is his coaching style. It is his lack of offensive creativity. He is too much of a "system" coach and doesn't play to to his player's strengths. He under utilizes Loul Deng, and just makes him a pick and pop guy. He doesn't maximize the player's individual talents.

His offense is too simplistic, with Rose bringing the ball of the court and playing 1 on 5. It is too predictable and it would be so easy for an opposing team to scout and stop them

And you're so right about the "out of gas" thing. Its tiring them out. They won't have any energy for the playoffs. I've been thinking this for a while. Glad you wrote about it

Our 2008-'09 team minus KG and a non-existent bench went all the way to game 7 of the second round. CHI is much younger and actually has a decent bench. Plus, just the fact that they have a good chance of actually make it to Finals after all these years will have their adrenaline flowing...I don't expect them to run out of gas. Rose might show a little bit of fatigue...but I don't expect that to hamper their chances in anyway.

Thibs hasn't been tested under playoff pressure yet.

No question, his preparation is thorough and impeccable for games. However....

Anybody remember his deer in the headlights freeze last year when Doc got the boot and Thibs didn't make a substitution for a whole quarter.

Let's see how HE performs when the bright lights are on.

Ultimately, I think their personnel will be their undoing in the playoffs, not their coaching.

Too many potential matchups out there that are unfavorable to them in a 7 game series.

Stamina shouldn't be too much of a problem.

His team has been labeled as title contender and favourite for a few months now...and during all this time CHI has only got better. Thibs has handled everything pretty well thus far...I expect him to continue doing that in the playoffs too.

I think also why the team won't go far:
They're just mediocre. They have been playing above their heads the entire season

Huh?

A mediocre team that has managed to play above their heads the entire season??? I guess we need to say the same thing about SA too.

NOH was a mediocre team that played above their head to begin the season.

I tried to get my dog a job writing for the bleacher report, but she perused a few articles and decided she'd rather beg for food.

Seriously, though, that's some bad writing. Not bad grammar, but bad writing.

Well I think the article was referring to the practices and not the games.  Throughout the Doc's tenure with the big 3 during the season the practices are known to be short crisp practices and they don't practice that often.   Doc often mentions he struggles with either getting practice time or giving the vets rest and it seems more often than not he gives them rest.

Thibs maybe he does things differently on his own especially trying to show himself as a good coach in his first season.   I think Doc being a former player understands how you need to balance rest and practice with older players.

I don't see how a team full of young guys can get burned out.

It's an amusing idea, but honestly that article was really poorly written and used a lot of faulty logic and shaky / weak sources.

The Bulls' fans are worried they lost to the Sixers one night and their team looked tired as they lost?  Oh boy, I wish our team were so good that one disinterested loss to a lower seeded playoff team would seem like the end of the world.

To be honest, Rose is the only player on that team that can consistently create a shot. Everyone else is a product of Thibs system. That team would be easy to scout. And Boozer... well I never thought much of him lol
