If the reg season mattered so much, Dallas would have won a few rings by now.

I don't get it, our core is playing(except Rondo, but you're kidding yourself if you don't think that will change come playoff time)better than last year. Is it really a certainty that Oneal's wont be back? That would be the only case for some here to say that we don't stand a chance.

No matter what, we would have had a few new players due to injuries this year. This slump was coming(like judgment day in T3) regardless of what DA did.

Unless our core has dropped off that much since last year, there is no reason not to believe this team can turn it on again.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

And the Cavs would have won the last two championships.

How did Doc "Shut them down" they didn't play the last game of the season other than I don't think the big 3's numbers are that much up from last year except KG and that was because he physically wasn't right last year. THAT is what was more scary more than anything is that KG was not the same at all.

We weren't trying to get homecourt advantage cause we were so bad we had no shot of getting it. I think we were certainly trying to get the 3 seed though and couldn't manage that as the Hawks squeaked by us.

Doc certainly criticized his team last year. To me what most of the team is saying this year sounds like an exact echo of last year. We just don't have Sheed here constantly being quoted saying "we will play when it counts", "regular season doesn't matter"

Don't you remember those team dinners with the Big 3 last year? Remember KG calling out Sheed in the shower?

Doc didn't shut them down?

Quote
Similar problems plagued Boston last year down the stretch as players became bored with the rigors of the regular season. But this is different. Last year, Rivers shut the Celtics down with the hope of getting healthy. This year he’s all in, his squad just isn’t there with him.

Deny it all you want...our problems this year are nothing like what we had last year.

Quote
“We’re just not ready to win right now with the way our approach is to basketball games,” Rivers said. “Right now we’ve become very, very selfish.”

Quote
As he watched his players walk off the court crestfallen, Rivers came to the realization that he has never been as discouraged as he is now during the Big Three era and questions their championship credentials.

“Instead of how the team is playing, everything is about individuals,” Rivers said. “You can see it. A guy struggles, he pouts, he moans. Everything is me, me, me on our team right now. Feeling sorry for themselves instead of giving themselves to the team and playing.”

Quote
It ng four of their last eight games and falling two games behind Chicago in the Eastern Conference standings, the tension is also reverberating throughout the locker room.

Once a cohesive unit, players are complaining that their teammates aren’t making the extra pass and that too often they become consumed with individual performance, echoing Rivers’ complaints.
[/isn’t just the coach who feels this way. After droppiquote]

Show me one quote from last year where Rivers felt that we couldn't win it all. Last year, it was all about health. Doc stood up for his players...said it numerous times that if healthy his team could make a very strong push for the finals.

Honestly I'm shocked to hear that last quote and never thought that would happen with the Big Three and Doc here.

This is what really bothers me.  If there is no team chemistry and cohesion there is no way Banner 18 is going to come.

Here's to them figuring it out fast and bringing back home the Larry O'Brien trophy to it's rightful owner!

Our last 10 games of the regular season last year we were 3-7

WOW

Last year was last year. This year is this year.

You are right History doesn't tell us anything

Since last year is an unusual occurrence in the NBA, what does history tell us?

Especially since many of the names on the Celtics have changed.
No Perk
No Wallace
No Daniels
No Nate
No TA
No Scali
No Finley
No JR

That's 8 of 15 guys different.  More then half the team.

I am not saying it can not happen.   I hope it does.

But the history part of this is not in the Celtic's favor.
Actually we've only got 5 guys from last season (and 08).  That's 1/3 of the team that made it to the Finals.  :-\
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
