We could have gotten Parker certainly.

Do you think so? I'm not entirely sure, but it makes sense we could've gotten him.

I'm also thinking that Parker may be past it. A shooter that doesn't even shoot all that well anymore (51% TS) and 35 years old. Of course a victim of poor teammates this season, but the Celtics bench is showing that they aren't the best unit at finding people open shots. Green's shot creation is something we've lacked.

I'm also looking at his defensive numbers on Synergy and seeing a lot of "below average" and "average" rankings, specifically being "average" at isolation D and "below average" at closing out spot up shooters and defending off screen plays.

Also don't think we could've matched Memphis' Thabeet and future first rounder for Battier. Morey's about collecting assets. His current spell in the D League doesn't tell me anything. They had Patrick Patterson down there as well this season. Also, the pick will probably be a 14-20 pick in 2013. Better value than anything we had, imo.
The only way we could have matched it would be a future pick a few years down the road. Then the Rockets would be looking at a rebuilding C's team's pick....

I've said it before.  Nearly every season is one of ups and downs.  It's silly to say that the C's are this bad because Kendrick is gone.  If that was the case, we would've been this bad all season.  It's also silly to say that you definitely know that they will bounce back.  Because know one knows that.

That's the inherent problem with the 24/7 news cycle (and especially message boards  :) ), we over analyze everything.

The fact of the matter is that it'll still be a few more weeks before we know whether this is all an aberration or something more problematic.

DA has squeezed most of the Orange out of this team. We won a Championship which most likely would have been 2 but Perk popped a knee. At worst we have the makings for a good competitive team when Big 3 go to the farm. Who knows what other magic he has up his sleeve.

Thanks Danny Ainge.

Lots of folks bent on being proven right about the Perkins trade.

You're spot on, Jon. TP.

I've been a Celtics fan for almost 50 years and I follow them daily during the regular season.  As soon as I heard about the Perkins trade, I knew the Celtics would be in trouble. With the Celtics being 10-8 since the trade, I think my fears have been confirmed.

The loss last night to the Pacers is just another example of the confusion the Perkins trade has caused. The players on the team were very close before the trade from public comments by Garnett, Pierce etc made after the trade.  Perkins and Rondo were close friends, and I believe the chemistry of the team has been destroyed. Hence the title to my post > thanks Danny for overreacting to what other teams were doing.

I also think an early exit this year from the playoffs will result in the retirement of Doc Rivers. I believe the Perkins trade will be looked upon as the end of the era of Garnett, Allen and Pierce...the team will never be the same again.  Back to rebuilding, if not next year, then the year after.  It has been fun while it lasted.  Mike
Come whine to us after we get booted from the play-offs early and when we are in the finals you can jump back on the bandwagon with you tail between your legs!!

And don't forget...... we where under 500 this year with Perk in the rotation.. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

This team was going nowhere fast before Ainge arrived. It took a few years, but he has done a great job, not only in winning now, but also building for the future. Perfect? No, no one is.  But he is extremely savvy, and fearless. That is the most you can hope for from your GM. Plus he has a fantastic working relationship with Doc.

This isn't true; the Celts were 8-4 with Perk playing.

To be fair, that's still lower than our win % for the year.
