Well, if we do see them, they'll be gone by June.

Never.  But we do seem like soft and wimpy team at times right now.  Hopefully Shaq can help with that and we can flip that playoff switch on.

Probably by round 1.

We're talking about Madison Square Garden, right?

I think Danny made a mistake, and a big one at that.  However, I don't think it's time to start calling for his head or anything like that.  Danny has been a good GM, and he's the one who pulled off what seemed impossible:  he took a team in the discussion for worst team in the league to a championship, along with at least four seasons of prime contention.  Kudos to him, even if he did screw up and made a trade he never should have.

I remember when Ainge was booed at the Garden after trading away Antoine Walker.  Many of those who would have liked to run Ainge out of town for that trade were likely completely ecstatic about the trades for KG and Ray Allen.

It takes a lot of guts to be a GM -- you have to make gutsy calls that may or may not pan out.  They pan out and everyone forgets you, they don't pan out and everyone vilifies you.  Armchair GMs, who don't have to worry about budgets, who don't have to think long term, never fail to realize this (myself included).
Celtics fan for life.

I won't say mistake until I see how the team looks with the O'Neals on the floor. As far as Ainge goes, he's the best GM in the league.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Should've already started -- but even the casual fans will have enough of this soon enough

Roy and I usually agree
in almost everything
This time I think Dannys move were the best for the team and that he makes a right.
Of course Roy is usually on nail more than me. But i will stick to my words the move will take this team at least to Finales.

Who would wear a anti-Ainge shirt? that would be dumb

You do realize "he pulled off what seemed impossible:  he took a team in the discussion for worst team in the league to a championship, along with at least four seasons of prime contention."-RH

How many other General Managers have done that ever?

His job is to make the team better while staying in contention.
He has done that while also preserving the health of our captain.

please get realistic.

Last year how many anti ainge shirts were there when he DIDN'T trade Ray Allen.

Besides some different names on the back of jerseys I really see no difference in last years team down the stretch than this one.

It's not an exact replica but it's pretty close. Actually last year was a lot worse so I don't know how people can be SO worked up.

I remember people saying last year that they wouldn't pay attention to the regular season this year and that it doesn't make a difference etc. Now all those people are jumping off bridges.

If the Celtics win it all this year are people again next year going to complain and whine if they suck at the end of the regular season? My guess is an emphatic YES

The reality is that the Perk trade was probably pushed by ownership and Ainge had his hands tied.

Not every move a GM makes is a "basketball move."  The guys who pay the team's bills frequently (more frequently than most realize) look at the bottom line more than the standings (see Ruth, Babe).  It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that if Perk had taken the Cektics' offer, the trade would not have happened.

My guess is that ownership wanted to have their budget set for 2011-12 before the lockout and the took a calculated risk that the team - which was playing well without Perk - would continue to do so long enough for the O'Neal's to return and have impact.
