Our losing coincides with Shaq being out... not Perk.  People are confused.  The 2010-11 Celtics are the story of Shaq at center... Perkins just made a cameo.

Couldn't have said it better
TP

Yep. The story of a 39-year-old guy who just got a cortisone shot, is wearing a walking boot, and who in the last 5-10 games before going out with his injury was a human foul machine who could barely get above the rim to dunk the ball. I love Shaq, but depending on a 39-year-old, heavy guy with all of the mileage he has on those legs is one, huge risk. HUGE.

Shaq and JO in the rotation sharing minutes was better than anything Perk ever done. And you know that deep inside...

Some interesting points, Vinnie, but you must concede that Shaq is called for fouls constantly merely because of his size. Refs are scared of him.
So why is Howard not fouled out of every game?

No, it's because he's old and slow now. And at the star of the season I had no problem with that. He was going to come off the bench as our second big and give us 5 fouls and even more fear for people coming into the lane.

Now he's out main big. He's old. Fat. Hurt. And not even playing.

How many times did Shaq and JO even play in the same game? How many total games have Shaq and JO even played this year combined? What Shaq and JO rotation? And, how healthy are Shaq and JO going to be in the playoffs. All of this is complete and total speculation.

In a perfect world? Sure, why not. In a perfect world we'd have Shaq and JO close to 100% and Perk being gone would just be kind of sad. Our bench would be better and it be a sure thing to the championship.

In a perfect world the Celtics wouldn't have lost to the Bobcats at home. WHen the cats didn't have their best player.

In a perfect world Doc wouldn't have blasted his players in a way I've not seen in years.

But this is the real world. And here in the real world Shaq is hurt.  Sure Danny thought he'd be fine by this time. But he was wrong. And now we could pay for that big time.

Call me silly, but I seem to remember winning a championship with a guy named Perk at center, and I also remember losing in game 7 of the finals last year with a guy named Perk starting at center all year until that game 7. Guess chemistry had nothing to do with it.

Call me silly but I remember winning a championship with Perk playing only 13 min a game and barely played in the game 4 comeback and game 6 when they clinched the title.

PJ Brown had enough to do with the title as much as Perk. Just a couple of replaceable big men who played there role

Was Perkins the starting center or was he not? Was a key part of the team or was he not?

He wasn't the key, you and I know that. I think you have short memory. Which lineup closed the games in each and every finals game? Rondo, Ray, Paul, Posey, and Garnett
How can a person who averaged 13 min per game and not be a factor in games 4 and 6 (two most important games of the series) be called a Key?

Oh gosh, don't go overboard here. Shaq is always being called out unfairly for fouls. They're scared of the big shaq attack.
And he's not fat!!!

Howard? You're right, but he's got those magic elbows that are invisible to the refs.

It is ironic when other fans say that about Shaq though they believed otherwise when he was playing against us in past years.

We'll be OK.

I agree we will be ok, but we were great before the trade and really didnt need to make this great shake up. A number one team at the all star break doesnt completely make over their entire roster like we did, it completely shakes the players attitudes and their chemistry like we have seen lately.

I think it's not so much with how much Perk played but everything else to do with the trades, the chemistry and emotional part of it obviously. As we know we are a team that is huge on bonding with each other off the court. Theres less and less time for this and the clock is ticking.

I think we miss who I never see mentioned Marquis' solid defense and the way he lived in the paint, it opened things up none of this spread the floor crap. I think we also miss the little things like the personality of Nate Robinson in the locker room and on the court well he was just durable not something you can say for much of our roster.

The trade disrupted the entire team, was made too late in the season, and it there was/is not enough time to integrate new guys and get over the fact that a core, key guy was traded. It does not matter how many games or minutes Perk has played this year. The point is, right now the Celts are depending on a 39-year-old guy who just got a cortisone shot and is wearing a boot and who has not played in 2 months, and another guy who is coming of knee surgery and who has played 17 games this year.
-=-=-

It sure seems that way.

Ainge thought the team would be professional enough to adjust better than what appears to be the case.

That elusive title 18 is, realistically, very unlikely to be achieved this year

I have to agree - true title contenders are rare, and the intangibles are a major key.

As is HCA.  It may already be too late.
