Doesent matter how many games he played.

The simple fact that he was still ON THE TEAM is what made the Celtics who they were.

Perkins was the C's leader and backbone.

The fact he was sitting on the bench every game supporting his team made the rest of the team better knowing that one day their leader would be back.

true blood

SOOKIE!!!

As long as KG's is on the C's, we will be relevant in the NBA.

Scal was here for a long time too. A good locker room guy, team player. But when he left, the Celtics kept winning. Hmmm....

Maybe cause he was hardly on the floor in the first place!
Like Scal, Perk who was a locker room guy and he hardly played this entire season. Celtics were 35-10 without him. Their defense was about the same. The Big 4 ALL shot a better percentage when Shaq was on the floor

The Perk trade had nothing to do with the so called "bad chemistry". I know its so much easier to do the blame game and sensationalize everything, but Celtics are way better than this

scal here now?

he would shine..

If paul pierce, kevin garnett and ray allen were relying on Kendrick Perkins leadership to win. Then we were in trouble to start with.

It's not just Perk being traded, which may be a big deal to our starters, but it's having these new guys on the team right near the end of the season. I don't think Nenad or Green are very good defenders and we are a defensive team. I think it's possible they are upsetting the chemistry. No fault of theirs. It's just that they are new and not the greatest defenders.

And averaged 28.4 minutes in the game he played.

I know people want to blame the trade. But we haven't had Kendrick Perkins all season. And the troubles haven't started until now.

Maybe Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic are such detriments to this team that their actually worse then Marquis and Semih.

Might we benefit from having Perkins down low right now? You betcha.

But something else is to blame for the C's poor play of late.

That's really all I have to say.

people are completely missing the point about the damage this trade has done by continually referring to the time missed by Perk because of his knee injury. it's the same sort of misplaced logic that led Danny to make this disastorous trade to begin with.

the people who keep making this point also must have very little understanding about what an advantage chemistry, cohesion and togetherness as well as a shared motivation are in team sports. that intangible that these Celtics had gave them an edge over all the other contenders and it is now gone.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Our losing coincides with Shaq being out... not Perk.  People are confused.  The 2010-11 Celtics are the story of Shaq at center... Perkins just made a cameo.

I'm still unsure if you're trying to be funny or not.

What does Shaq have to do with this?

We have 4 all-stars and cant even beat the worst teams in the league that dont even have all-stars of their own.

If we need a 39 year old role-player to beat bad teams, this team will get swept in the first round.

Us losing to bad teams has nothing to do with Center.

We needed Shaq to beat Memphis and the Bobcats, are you kidding me?

Our team must be terrible then since our four all-stars cant even beat a sub .500 team without beloved Shaq.

Yep. The story of a 39-year-old guy who just got a cortisone shot, is wearing a walking boot, and who in the last 5-10 games before going out with his injury was a human foul machine who could barely get above the rim to dunk the ball. I love Shaq, but depending on a 39-year-old, heavy guy with all of the mileage he has on those legs is one, huge risk. HUGE.

Some interesting points, Vinnie, but you must concede that Shaq is called for fouls constantly merely because of his size. Refs are scared of him.

If its mental, then it can be overcome. Simple as that. Which is why I won't count them out.

This dip after the trade was entirely predictable
