The problem right now for us is the under-performance of our big 4. With the exception of Rondo, I doubt the trade has had little effect on those guys' chemistry. But that is a big if. Rondo no long attacks the hoop and kicks out to the open guy, and rarely finishes.  Sadly, I think the players don't want to fight for first place, and would rather just coast to the play-offs. They proved last year they could get away with that, so might as well do it again.

Why does everyone keep saying this?? In case I'm living in some alternate universe we LOST in Game 7 last season. We did not win. We still have just 17 banners. We did not hoist a trophy. There was no parade. We accomplished nothing.

Oh I'm sorry. We're Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference champs  ::)

we're practically undefeated in games where Shaq played playoff minutes... We'll be fine.  Can't judge the trade till i see our starting center setting picks, dunking on people and blocking shots... Shaq will save us.

It's fitting we are losing all these games right now... nobody will be able to say Shaq bandwagon hopped onto a title team once we dominate our way to a title with his much-needed services.

I don't know how anyone can deny that team chemistry is so important to this squad. It's clearly not there...That "me me me" mentality Doc described wasn't even seen last year when we signed a player some people considered "locker room cancer". The concept of UBUNTU wasn't developed in a day...it took one complete training camp and full season to develop.

Hated the trade on Feb 24th...hate it now.

All that said, if (and its a 50-50 situation right now) Shaq can make a good comeback, our chances to win it all will still be pretty good.

Agree 100%

The chemistry we built and spread throughout the entire roster is gone, and without it we are just an average team with washed up all-stars that can barely score on their own.

Need to blow it up once the off-season arrives and get rid of Rondo, franchise is going nowhere with this guy.

No wonder he was the #21 pick in the draft, guy is bonafide overrated.

I've been pretty supportive of the trade so far, but this pretty much sums up my feelings on everything. TP

Forgive me for not understanding how the trade "Killed our team". It was either we make the trade, or we go into the post season with no backup SF for Pierce. Remember that most of the players we traded away are not finishing the season due to injuries (Semi, Daniels), and the starter we traded away is still coming back from a knee injury that was hampering the only strong point of his game: Defense.

We're not seeing this team at full-throttle yet...before making a final assessment of everything, I will wait and see how Shaq and Jermaine impact the team over the next couple of weeks.

Danny could have made other trades to get a backup SF without trading the heart of the team.

Unless.... he gets injured since he is 39 and all.

He played horribly before his injury, it was obvious he was hobbled.

Betting on the health of the O'Neals is A HUGE RISK.
Celtics' turn on switch for the playoffs: the last bastion of hope for battered Celtic fans.

Team is done and Doc knows it. He's already packing his bags. I don't care if you are the most optimistic Celtics fan, you can't seriously convince yourself that this team is capable of beating Chicago, Miami, and LA all without HCA. Toast. At least we'll always have '07-'08. They've already accomplished what they came for.

Honestly....we were actually healthy around this time last season, too. It wasn't like we were waiting for guys to come back....

Shaq and JO still haven't arrived, and won't until next Wednesday or Thursday. When they do, our interior defense will be buffed back up just like that, and we'll be good to go for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs.

Doc said that the team intentionally coasted the last 15 games of the year last year to get the team healthy. He also said that this year is far different than last year. But I guess Doc doesn't know what he is talking about.

This kills me because all the haters keep saying 08 was a fluke...I just knew this year was our time to prove them wrong.  :'(

Heart of the team?? We traded KG and Pierce away? Last I checked, Perk was NOT the heart of the team...he was a physical presence in the middle, something that Shaq will also be upon his return.

Do you think Shaq will be able to wear the boot during games?   ;D

it's not possible to properly judge the trade until we see how the team plays  with Shaq ... sorry.  Cry all you want, but the trade was made for the playoffs... not a regular season game against the Bobcats.

The best post of the day. Overreaction on this blog is annoying

The games still need to be played before we count this team out. Yes, I am an optimist, an apologist, a homer, and a fan. I'm not blind to what is going on, but I simply have faith in this team, it's players and it's coach. It will be all the more sweet when we work through this funk and play the Lakers again in the finals.

I really have no clue why everyone is SO sure that the O'Neals are going to turn this team into champions.

I think the trade pretty much proves Perkins was the heart of this team.

We are nothing without him and it shows in our play.
