My biggest gripe about Davis is his superhuman ability not to pass.  As soon as he touches the ball, the other four Celtics might as well get back on defense, as he will not be passing it out.  There was one play this season where he passed it to a cutting KG for the score and  it was great.  The fact that I vividly remember this is an indicator of how rarely he passes.  

Is there a way (Synergy, usage rate, etc.) to figure out how many times he touches, passes and shoots per game?

For a dude who only played a total of 15 minutes in the whole series, scoring only three points, this disrespect to the trophy isn't warranted. Winning your first 'chip is sweet, but not that sweet.

Can't say Baby wasn't a key member of 08 team but because of Powe, Posey, and Brown Doc wouldn't play him much. Benched to third on depth charts at PF and Center. Yeah behind Scal and PJ and I remember despite the record he was complaining about minutes and being benched sometimes. He won in the end because he was kept, the only remaining bench member of that season.

Nobody has bashed Glen Davis on this forum more than me, but I gained a lot of respect for him recently.  He's a solid role player.

And I just want to say that overall I like Big Baby and think he adds a lot to the team, but he could help a lot more if he looked to pass more often.  The Celtics are at their best when everyone is passing and 6 players get 12-15 points.

Wow, I'm really shocked at how much criticism BBD is getting on this thread.  Personally, I think he is a good ball player. Outside of the big 4, I believe he is the most important player on this team.  Defensively, he is very good.  Offensively, he is not a great shooter but he knows how to score. Most importantly, under pressure he is very poised.  He does not shrink from the moment but rather rises to the occasion more often than not. 

Under pressure, I'll take BBD on my team ANY DAY.  I trust him- especially to rebound when we most need it.  Offensively, in key games and in big moments, he is a gamer.  I call it 'that thing, that thing I like'.  Dennis Johnson had it.  Larry Bird had it.  Paul Pierce has it.  BBD has it, too.   

Come playoff time a lot of you will be eating your words.

Well, like him or hate him, Doc's had to lean on him a lot this season, probably too much.  With Jeff Green now an option with the Big Four and Shaq and JO back soon, we should probably see considerably less of him.  And I think in smaller doses, things will get better.

If this world was fair BBD would have grown to be 6'10 or taller.  Wouldn't it be nice if BBD were taller?  I think about this with BBD more than any other player I can remember for some reason.

really? Because i would much rather have Pierce or Ray Allen or KG taking that pressure shot ANY DAY over BBD. but to each his own.

There's also bashing of every one of our players. I don't mind the critical thinkers who actually take into account the arguments presented and respond to them in a reasonable way, but the mindless bashing gets tiresome.

Baby admitted he was wrong to take the 3 pointer. Problem solved. Baby has a history of solving his problems and learning from his mistakes. He will learn from this one.

if he was taller with that weight he would not be able to hustle like he does..it would slow him way down and have knee problems early..stuff like that

Glen Davis doesn't take bad shots, if he doesn't shoot it that just means Rondo or someone else will take it.

I wish KG was more unselfish. Every time he takes less than 10 shots he should be dunked in the Charles.

I think if you go through the posts you'll see that most people, including myself, don't at all blame Glen for taking that shot.  If there is blame to go around for it, he's one of the last ones I'd blame.

You clearly appreciate critical thinkers who take into account a variety of circumstances & evidence.  I ask that you read the first page or two from this thread to see some (both pro & con), but I fear that you'd automatically dismiss anyone who would suggest Glen play a different way.

I certainly don't have a problem with how he plays but results matter to me than how you get it done. Davis playing with the first unit looks dysfunctional especially when he is taking shots that should go to Ray Allen through misdirection. I've seen enough even in many wins to not appreciate this halfcourt display that only ages the big three in the end. C's should be running a lot of fastbreaks, but this team is incapable of doing it effectively with Davis. We all seen when Semih or Shaq were out there how opposing coaches would call quick timeouts so Celtics wouldn't run their team off the court. Coaches need only wait for Baby to sub back into the game to make their comeback. Fans who say well Doc trust him to finish, don't even care the lead provided Baby before he subs in. It's just all good as long as they squeak out wins. Doc and Danny can just keep trading away 2nd unit players while the problem remains. The big four deserve better then this.

Thank you.  I fully concede that he gets carried away with the jump shot at times, but the bottom line is that the guy is a competitor and a WINNER.
