Anyone else remember the Cooz doing in-game teasers for the sitcom "Moisha" on WB38 in the 90s?  Always slayed me hearing TH and Cooz talk up Moisha as if they'd actually seen it.
Haha, yeah I remember that.  It makes me nostalgic to remember the Tommy & Cooz announcing days.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Bill Walton is a "volume talker" like Antoine was a "volume shooter", but at least Walton says interesting (and outrageous, and dumb, and crazy) things.  Donny provides the sort of super-obvious insight my wife could provide (and he's way less good-looking).

My wife doesn't comment a lot when she half-watches the games, but her "that big white guy never rebounds" comment when Krstic was playing was pretty much spot on.

She says that?? Awesome! My wife usually says stuff like, "oh, wow, Rondo's shoes are AWESOME! Why don't YOU wear some like that?", or "Wow, KG is soooo sweaty..", or my fav, "THAT'S Ray Allen's wife?? Did she marry him just to buy those boobs??".

Funny, she generally predicts how well Rondo's going to play based on which shoes he's wearing.

An aside, but Ray's wife hosts a cooking show on CSN. I wonder if they talked up that idea with her when they were trying to get Ray to sign that team-friendly contract.

Come on guys ?????  Donny's love fest with Jason Kidd are the best. I have been done with him since the day he started.  Horrible.  I am all set with A Sharod Blakely.  Spears was 1,000 times better. Bring in someone that is respectable, but If this is the best they can get for anylst bring in Maria Menounos.

I remember when Donny Marshall a few years back called Paul Pierce a Super Star and Vince Carter a "Super Duper Star".  He lost all credibility at that moment.

As for Blakely, I don't mind the guy but I hate how they interview him like we can't just read what he is going to write.  Why act like the man is a celebrity?

I never learn ANYTHING about the Cs or about the game when I watch him.
I'm not quite sure what you learn from Tommy anyhow.

Hearing him try to explain what guys like Rondo, Pierce, Ray, or KG can do to play better is so stupid to me. On their worst nights those guys are probably better than a prime Donny on his best.
So? Anyone from the Big 3 is probably a better player than Doc ever was, and Lawrence Frank has never played basketball, which apparently doesn't stop them from coaching the Celtics.

i hate it when Donny says "back when i played in UConn"...etc etc...i thought we're talking about the celtics here

however I don't mind Bill Walton, yes he says the most obvious things but its funny when he does

i remember when he did the sidelines with Mike Gormon this year during the Warriors game...we were up by like 15 with 1-2 minutes to go

Bill went: I think we won this game, safe lead
Mike Gormon went: Thanks for telling us the obvious

=)

I can't blast him for his color commentary.  That is something that most guys need years of seasoning before they get good.  I loved Cous -- but it took a while to get used to him.  Glen Ordway was eventually great with Johnny Most, but was weak in the beginning.  Jerry Remy (switching sports) was awful for years, and has become a star.   Cedric Maxwell was lambasted by many (still is by some) in his first years, but many find him funny and effective now.  I remember back in the early Mike and Tommy days that the general wisdom was, watch the TV and turn up the radio.

In the studio, he's not that bad.  He's reasonably articulate, has decent analysis, presents an honest opinion of what he sees, and in comparison to his co-host is bright, insightful, witty and smooth.  He's not great, but he does OK in my opinion.

D-Marsh is the only neutral Celtic. broadcaster

Neutral is the perfect way to describe him. He is monotone, lacking opinion and that makes him BORING for TV.

I dont have anything against him really but I dont enjoy listening to him at all. Especially when he subs for Tommy. Zero emotion.

i can't stand the a. sherrod blakely interviews during the game. they're just so pointless and unnecessary. i don't mind marshall in the studio tho, i rarely agree with what he says, but at least he's got something say as apposed to tanguay who's just seems like a bovine urchin
