I can't blast him for his color commentary. That is something that most guys need years of seasoning before they get good. I loved Cous -- but it took a while to get used to him. Glen Ordway was eventually great with Johnny Most, but was weak in the beginning. Jerry Remy (switching sports) was awful for years, and has become a star. Cedric Maxwell was lambasted by many (still is by some) in his first years, but many find him funny and effective now. I remember back in the early Mike and Tommy days that the general wisdom was, watch the TV and turn up the radio.
In the studio, he's not that bad. He's reasonably articulate, has decent analysis, presents an honest opinion of what he sees, and in comparison to his co-host is bright, insightful, witty and smooth. He's not great, but he does OK in my opinion.
