He's going to have surgery, huge blow to Memphis.

Thanks stinks.  Still, it gives old friend Tony Allen a chance to continue to shine, so that he can finally get the exposure he so craved.

It does remove the chance of an upset in the first round though.

I don't see Memphis doing too much to SAS or LA without Gay.

No way the Grizz hold onto the 8 seed now and thus no way Heisley pays ZBO his money.

Yeah, too bad ... Memphis had a real chance at knocking off one of the top teams in the first round.

Stinks for the Grizzlies, but the best Memphis could really hope for was a game 6 against the Mavs. San Antonio and LAL would send them packing quick. The Grizzlies are no OKC.

I think they have a very good chance at it. They play the Hornets twice and also currently have a two game lead on the Rockets. They do not have the tie-breaker against the Rockets, and likely won't against the Hornets.

Still with a two game lead, and the chance to put two losses on the Hornets, Memphis is likely to hold onto the 8th seed with only 11 games to go.

With a healthy Gay they could absolutely beat LA in a series, they have just enough perimeter defense to have given Kobe fits and the size to match up with the Lakers down low.

Our next game is against the Grizzles…. Is it going to be one of those games where our opponent is missing their star player, And the Celtics go into the game thinking they can win with 50% effort…. (see Thunder with no Durant)

This news doesn't bother me so much, since it means it's more likely for the Rockets to make the playoffs.

Too bad, you hate to see any playoff team lose their marquee player a few games before the playoffs begin.

I wouldn't give up on them yet. I think they'll hold #8 and face San Antonio. If Duncan is still out with his sprained ankle, I'd give the Grizz a chance for an upset.

Huge blow to the griz and a big blow to Gay's career... He was having a great great season. Especially in the fantasy department.

No way, Duncan isn't the most important cog in the Spurs' wheel.  They have way too many weapons and the Grizzlies are no match, at all.  Even with Gay, they don't upset anybody in the first round.  At best they steal one game.  That is if they even hold on to their playoff spot.  But it would be nice to see what TA can do leading a team in the playoffs!
