I'm happy to see that this is the Nuts and Bolts of Green's game.

From either block it's one or two dribbles back you down and shoot a Jump hook of some sort.

He's 6'9" and long, add to that he's 235 pounds, and today I noticed that he's got a big butt, which is great for low post basketball.

I really like the fact that only 10% of his shots are three pointers right now, and we seem to be focusing on getting him several post ups a game.

We know Kevin is good down there, but  Jeff has the most basic, back you down, give you a little shoulder, and elevate into the defender's body type of post game that I love.

Really nice option to have coming off the BENCH for a scoring option.  8)

LOL.
Tp my friend. Always glad to make someone laugh.

But hey that's not wrong, it's scout talk. Charles is famous for his colossal posterior. And that is why he got away with being  a 6'4" Power foward. Big Butt, and Big Hops.

It woud be great if Jeff Green could rebound the way Barkley did.

I love Greens game and I like when he posts up at the three spot, he has trouble against other 4's. I really wish that we could find Green more minutes and more touches because I love his offensive game.

I'd prefer Bosh by a pretty wide margin.

Green is a better post player than I thought he was, though, and I'm glad to see him take the ball down there.

JG with the Celts: 23mpg/11.2ppg/51% FG/38% 3FG, 1.2 3apg

with OC: 37mpg/15.2ppg/44% FG/30% 3FG, 3.8 3apg

His rebounding/assists are down but that isn't his job. He's getting the easy transition baskets and posting up. He's only shooting the 3 when he is wide open.

He is a better player than I thought.

Well, he is going to be seeing minutes at the 4 if we don't get the O'Neal's back...which means that is going to be a major part of his job

He has a desent post game, not great. Good all around scorer but I thought he could rebound better. His numbers seem to have gone way down in that department since he's joined the Celtics.
Also it would be nice if he was a better defender. I think that will come but he really needs to start hitting the boards a little harder.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.

I think his defense has improved significantly since joining KG in the locker room. His 1v1 post defense gets better every game. He still sometimes won't commit to a hard foul and gives away a soft tap over the back but he has a great ability to get his hand up and in the face of the post player and disturbing their shot rhythm.
If only I could say the same for his OKC turned celtic team mate. eeek.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Even at the three, I'm not sure that it's an excuse to say that it's not somebody's job to rebound.  Every player on the court is asked to secure defensive rebounds, and Green has been very poor in that regard.

It's a weakness.  It doesn't need to be overblown to overshadow the good things Green is contributing, but it's also something that shouldn't just be explained away like "he's not asked to rebound".
