Especially during this stretch of poor play but even for the month of March, Paul just does not seem to be interested in being an aggressive scorer. Why?

I do not think he is hurt

His defense and rebounding have been great, to me he has actually looked more active in both those areas but for some reason is not aggressively looking to score.

10 shots a game for the 10 games in march opposed to 13 a game for the rest of the year?

Last night he didnt do much accept take some lazy three point shots that he didnt have to work for. That is fine from some guys but just seems unusual for a player with his offensive skill.

And in Houston he had taken only two shots while the game was running away from us..

Thoughts?

I'm not worried about Paul.  After watching him his whole career I can recognize when he has his good games and bad games.  There's nothing wrong with him, he's two weeks removed from winning Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

Um it's called inconsistency...  Anybody on this board heard of it?  I mean come on, Rondo's been by far our most inconsistent player since 07 and everyone thinks that the sky is falling, as if his recent play is anything out of ordinary.

Paul, Rondo, Ray, KG, no need to be losing hair over any of them.  Just hope they happen to play well when it counts.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Paul will be fine just pacing himself he's shouldered the load for most of the season, he knows what's at stake
"7ft PG. Rondo leaves and GUESS WHAT? We got a BIGGER point guard!"-Tommy on Olynyk

When we focus on the individual play of the players for this Celtics team, we tend to forget that this team more than any other in the NBA relies on a collective approach to winning.  We've seen this before where the balance, particularly offensively, gets a little off and guys start looking worse.  Then we look for blame to place.  Rondo, Pierce, KG, Ray, even Curly now.

I think the truth is everyone is affected by each other's play and guys start looking for a rhythm which is outside the way this offense flows when it's playing well.  These guys have been through this before, and been together too long to not know how to fix it.

Thats the Tommy Point!!
Exactly, this is a team game. And Pierce is bound to have a bad game here and there. Give him a break, he has many other teammates to pick up the slack for him

Back at ya with the Tommy point, but it don't think you actually gave it to me.  I'm still stuck on 40.

The post OP saying that PP is playing bad.

I am asking why he has chosen to be so much less aggressive for this 15% of the season then in the other 85% so far?

It seems weird that your best offensive player takes takes almost exactly 13 shots a game for 4/5ths of the year. Then when the team is struggling for wins isnt reduces his shot attempts to by 25% and isnt aggressive in the first quarter of games.

Especially when he is playing with such great energy on defense and has said in the papers at least twice in the last week that "this is the home stretch we know what we are getting ready for"

Coasting/Pacing

Weve seen this team for it for an entire season, im surprised you cant tell just by looking at his body language.

The Big 4 are going through the motions waiting for the playoffs, just watch their body lanauge its obvious.

Ray Allen isnt fighting through screens anymore or calling for them.

Pierce is standing around and isnt demanding the ball.

Rondo is settling for jumpshots, which are usually something he only does in last resort situations.

KG is shooting open jumpers or passing the ball, he also isnt going after rebounds anymore his numbers are way down lately.

Our bench is going to have to play like they did last night. We need 30-40+ points from our bench every night if we are going to keep the #1 seed, because our starters are mailing it in until the playoffs.
