With his jump shot....
Rondo won this game... by going to the bench.  :-*

True that +++++.......by taking a seat on the bench.

What a soldier playing though a pinky injury. I suppose HE should get the WES UNSELD award for bravery.  He is a shooting marvel alright.  He has built brick houses in most cities this season.

D West, Baby and Ray saved the day .

I kind of agree with the OP. It was Rondo that kept the starters going at all, when neither Ray, PP, KG or Krstic could hit anything. It didn't win the game, but it gave Delonte, Big Baby and Green a reason to bring it. I wouldn't give Rondo the game ball, but the bashing is just getting old.

We were -12 with Rondo in the game. He wasn't the difference maker.

And Delonte was +16 == difference maker!

Anyone watch the Comcast broadcast?  At the end Tommy was saying a lot of people are wondering why Rondo is in for Delonte at crunch time.  I don't recall his exact wording but basically it was a non-basketball reason; ie ego and pride.

It was really the unit of West Allen Green Davis that spurred us to victory in the 3rd quarter (+16 +12 +12 +7).  While Rondo AND Pierce AND Garnett where on the pine.  In fairness to Rondo, Pierce was off all night, KG couldn't buy a bucket in the first half, but finally picked it up in the 2nd.

Hah, classic overreaction thread.

If there's one thing I love about point guards in the NBA, it's how team success is somehow always over-attributed to them.

Yeah, the team won. But did it have anything to do with Rondo? Not at all. It had everything to do with our bench and the other team's superstar having an off game.

He wasn't the cause of the -12 either. If Ray was hitting shots in the first half like he was in the second half then we probably wouldn't have been behind like that. I thought Rondo was moving around a little better than he had been last week but the big three were kind of dragging. Hopefully the second half will get them (all) out of their funk.

first post on the forums and while delonte was the sparkplug last night.. simply using a +/- stat for rondo isnt truly fair imo for the pure fact if his guys arent hitting shots theres a good chance hes goin to be a -

Don't lie. Rondo hit the buzzer beater at halftime to keep us down by 11. That is far from a blowout. Remember you quit watching and called it a loss.

How does a buzzer beater at halftime to only put us down by 11 give that ANY advantage...

Rondo is still sucking out there and by the looks of it, I'd rather have Delonte be our starting PG if Rondo keeps playing like a chump. He says he's not injured so either Rondo is exhausted and needs more rest time (which I hope we can provide him that during the home games vs ****ty teams) or is playing like a scrub because he's being mentally weak.

Rondo did not suck out there tonight. He held Chris Paul to zero FGs in the game while hitting clutch jumpers.

I cant tell if your trolling.

Rondo didnt hold CP3 to 0-9.

CP3 held CP3 to 0-9.

Bad nights happen, Rondo hasnt been able to hit a wide open jumper for 2 weeks until tonight.

You should give yourself more credit for this. You predict that an opposing pg will destroy Rondo and they stink on ice. Don't waste this power, save it for the playoffs. Experiment a little with other positions, though. "LeBron will crush Paul", Wade will destroy Ray" and "Pau will blow up on KG" predictions *could* be the secret to banner 18.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I agree with others that it was the bench that won this game. Davis was incredible last night and was really playing with a lot of energy.

In a somewhat related topic, I am so sick and tired of the starters playing like crap. Is it really because Perk is gone? Because if that's the excuse, they need to get over it. Perk was a very good defensive player for this team, but he wasn't the reason they were such a prolific scoring team. They are more well rounded than ever, but if the starters are going to just sit around and sulk, we won't have any chance in the playoffs.

I know there are many around here who say that the chemistry was disrupted and 'Danny's Folly', etc, but these are tried and tested veterans who have much success in the NBA. Losing a team's 5th/6th best player (and technically getting better in the process) shouldn't ruin everything this team is easily capable of.

NOTE: IF THIS TEAM DOESN'T WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP, IT IS THE PLAYERS' FAULT, NOT BECAUSE PERK WAS TRADED.

I'm not blaming Rondo solely for us being -12.  However, to claim that a guy who was -12 was the "reason" we won, while ignoring that his replacement was +16, just defies logic to me.
