needs more love. this kid is absolutely beast. Pierce has always been my favorite player, but recently while watching games there's been so many times where I've found myself secretly wishing Pierce gets benched so Green gets more time.

I wish we could find more minutes for Green. he should be playing 30 minutes a night. Hopefully he will be getting Baby's minutes next season.

Jeff Green is better then this.

lol tom gugliotta

Jiri, is that you?  We hardly knew ye!

Love how Big Al, TA, and DWest are specks in the background, while Blount and Welch get the spotlight. That being said... those were good times...

Jeff Green is better then this.

Tom Guggliota, Justin Reed, Jiri Welch, Ricky Davis, Mark Blount, Raef LaFrentz, Gary Paton, Michael Stewart, Marcus Banks and Walter McCarty (and Antoine Walker, not pictured but the last piece to that team)

all no longer in the league. Crazy, it seems like this was our team just yesterday.

i think green is filling the exact need we need: somebody to come off the bench that could play a swingman position or power forward in certain situations. the one thing our bench has lacked all year was an explosive/dynamic scorer. green is filling that role nicely. his numbers say he doesnt rebound well, but hes also the first guy running on the break, and my guess is, doc is telling him to do that. his assist numbers are also pretty weak, but ive noticed its because when he gets the ball, hes usually in a nice position to make a move to shoot which is fine.

bottom line: hes done exactly what we needed from a wing off the bench in his first 10 or so games here. he other areas will improve with time.

also, he may be our best post up scorer. (when matched against 3's and smaller 4's.)
That's the part of his game that impresses me the most.  There aren't many great post up players in the league nowadays, and a few of Green's moves looked very Al Jeffersonesque.

I don't want him taking Baby's minutes, because he doesn't rebound.  He's better playing the 3.

Yep.   I would love to see Green (and West) play some more minutes to reduce Ray's minutes the rest of the season.  (moving Pierce over to play the 2 for few minutes)

While Green is playing well for Boston, he has quickly gone from being underrated to overrated on this board.

He has the skills to be a starter on most teams.  He has the skills to be the 6th man on this team.

But because of need and chemistry, he is more like the 8th guy on this team right now (after Baby and West).

Of course, most teams would love to have that type of talent as the 8th man.  So, this is all good for the Celtics (once they get back a starting C, the chemistry of this team is established and Rondo gets a little more healthy)
I think we need to push him to the 6th man slot, start playing him the most minutes off the bench, and see how he does closing out games.

Perk probably would've been finishing games over Davis, I don't see why Green shouldn't.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

1)  Davis knows the defensive schemes better.

2)  Davis has proven something to the Celtics already.

3)  Davis is a better defender against other big men.

Green is a better choice if the Celtics needed a SF to close a game, but they already have Pierce.

Does a '6th man slot' really exist? I don't think so. Guys are subbed based on position.

Green will likely get the most minutes off the bench once Shaq returns just because he will be covering 2 spots, SG and SF, while Krstic and Baby will probably both be getting minutes up front and West will be primarily our backup PG.

one thing thats great, is finally seeing why danny made this trade...I love the 3punch West, Green, baby off the bench...all these guys bring energy and scoring with 10+ points...thats something bostons bench didnt have before(partially due to injuries)

and should help the celtics get over the hump vs. most teams now/in the playoffs...a recent article stated on ESPN that this bench has averaged 39points the past 3 games...

I think he means finish games with RR/RA/PP/Green/KG instead of RR/RA/PP/KG/Baby.

When people criticize Pierce for him not being that successful in the playoffs, they should look at that photo

I think he needs a chance to prove something to the Celtics.  He's a better shooter and a better player overall.  If Baby's having a good game that's one thing, but he's not the most consistent player.

A lot depends on match-ups really.  Obviously we're not gonna put Green or KG on Howard.  But I think Green at least deserves a chance to try and find that Posey role.

Yes, Shaq can't finish games.
