There were rumors earlier this year that the Heat were going to go after Doc Rivers after this season was over. Now with the rumors that this could be Doc's last season, it looks like it could definitely happen after Doc takes a year off.

I have to admit that it would really irk me if this happened. I know it would be a very good move for Doc as far as being able to coach a team that is a contender for the next 5 years, but it would just be awful as a celtic fan to see Doc help lead Lebron to a championship .

Don't do it Doc, don't go to the dark side

Yes and we all know Doc would definitely not do that.

There were also rumors that the Heat was going after Perk this summer. And that they'd win 75 games and the first of their 6-7 titles. And that LeBron passes like Magic Johnson.

Might not be completely related, just like typing stuff like that.

Well, Doc would be able to take all the time off he wants...As long as he has Coach messiah's blessing.

I wonder what job description is of the person who has the head coach's title on the messiah's team?

Meh, it's a business. He helped bring us one championship and I'll always be grateful. He has to do what's best for him and if he thinks that's coaching Miami, so be it.

I wouldn't blame him if he did, and I wouldn't be mad at him. However, I would be very emotionally distraught.

I really don't think he's interested in dealing with the Divas of South Beach though...if he took any Florida coaching job, I think that it'd be back with Orlando again after Van Gundy's time runs up.

I wouldn't like it, but it could be great for Doc's career in a historical sense.  The more seasons he takes off, the less it would bother me.

I wouldn't really care too much; it's his choice; just like LBJ going to MIA.  I've never been a big believer that coaching wins; it's the talent you have at your disposal.  Remember everyone wanted Doc fired when the C's weren't a competitive team 4-5 years ago.  Now he wins a title and he's immortalized by the media.
But it does appear the players like Doc and respect, so for those reasons I like him as our coach; not because he's going to put us over the top.

No I wouldn't be mad, it would certainly sting...but he's a great coach that helped win us a championship, he's allowed to do whatever he wants.

Just like when Danny left, or Rick Fox, or Perk, I will always be a Glen "Doc" Rivers fan.

I may even become a fan of Miami, as a secondary team...or maybe not.  But, I am sure if Doc was their coach they would to make a major attitude adjustment on how to play the game.

The Celtics always, always, come first with me!

I think he's earned the right to go where he wants, and I would be surprised if Doc DIDN'T end up coaching the Heat in a few years.

Yes--because it would  mean Miami had put a winning team together.
