Delonte is fine.

He played like a beast his first game back against the Clippers before the ankle sprain.

Whats funny is that hes still a better shooter then Rondo with a broken wrist.

That to me is hilarious, even if it isnt his shooting hand.

You would think Rondo would pull motivation to work on his shot from these things, but he doesent.

Wait...why have we moved to assuming Rondo doesn't practice his shot, again?

Because if he did he wouldnt be airballing wide open jumpshots during games.

Such a tired and lame explanation.

How on earth do you think he would earn respect on this team if he didn't work at a glaring weakness in his game? multiple reports/articles say he does, so do teammates.

The simple fact is, some people suck at shooting. I know we all like to tell ourselves that if we made millions of dollars and our only concern was basketball and we practiced the ridiculous amounts these guys do we'd all be ray Allen, and failure to achieve at least a average NBA jumper is a sign of disinterest/laziness on the part of a player but it just isn't true.

Jason Kidd is, from all accounts, one of the true gym rats of the game, and it took him ten years to develop ONE set shot that teams have to fear, that three from slightly off line at the top of the key.

Do you think his inability to shoot is because he's

A) Lazy and never practices, despite all reports

or

B) linked to the fact that his ceiling is "not very good" as a shooter

Good post.

What I'm tired of is the concentrated effort to make every thread about Rondo lately (among those not about him). This is probably the 3rd victim to that trend that I can recall in the past few days.

I believe they mentioned that they operated on Delonte's wrist. This is usually only done if there is a lot of displacement; but it may also be part of why they allowed him back so soon, Unfortunately, one of the dangers with surgery is that you get scaring on the tendons and muscles from the surgery itself as the body ties to heals the affected area.

I can say that it hurts like #@%*! if you torque a broken bone in your hand or wrist. I am just surprised that they let him come back when they did. If you are worried about your wrist you may "trip up" in some other way. Not smart in my book. This was before Arroyo and when Rondo was having foot issues. Shows how little they trusted Nate.

Glad people think he will be fine. Hope they are right!

I wouldn't bring Delonte back till 5 games left -- and then I'd be playing him for the sole purpose of resting Rondo/Ray.  If he gives us 5 games I'd be surprised and thrilled.  Anything after that is playing with house money.

Anything can happen of course (and I hope to be pleasantly surprised), but it just doesn't seem like DWest can stay on the court.  I feel the same way about JO -- though I think he MAY be able to give the 8 minutes a game we'd want him for.

Sorry, I should have clarified. That was Delonte's response to a reporter when asked how and what kind of injury he'd sustained. He will play tonight.

Nice game for West tonight.  Is there any question that he should play instead of Arroyo once the playoffs get here.  He just adds another dimension that neither Arroyo or Rondo can bring.

Rondo has been a bad shooter for his entire career with only slight improvement, I think its a pretty reasonable assumption to see that he doesent practice shooting much.

Rondo practicing shooting is like Shaq practicing three point shots.

Thats just not their game, why waste time on it.

Yea, cause no one's air-balled a jumpshot before. I agree with crownsy, your explanation is lousy. If Rondo can make 20 3's in a row in a game of HORSE, on All-Star weekend, with everyone and their mom watching, how is he not being able to make a jumpshot in-game prove he never practices? I don't know what is, I really don't. People say the Perkins trade may have affected him. Maybe that applies to his lulls with his jumpshot, now?

I have a broken wrist like his. He won't ever get it back just like it was. And no way in the world was it going to be well this year.

That said he can still play with it the way he is now. He just won't be as good as we had wanted him to be this year. But nothing can be done about it now.

I am not quite sure why he would never pass to Green in the 4th quarter. He seemed preoccupied with working Glen Davis, even though he couldn't hit the broad side of the barn from the field all day, and Green was killing the Pacers in the first half.
