I think this is a great article by Wojnarowski...it raises alot of legitimate points about Stern and the NBA. David stern making a gangster like threat to Van Gundy for his comments does not make him look any better.

Van Gundy is right...there is no freedom of speech in the NBA and because of that there doesn't seem to be "watch dogs" making sure the integrity of the NBA is intact.

If players and coaches can't be very critical about what goes on in the NBA, who can be?

I love Wojo , he doesn't fear ripping anyone ( he called out Lebron last year while the rest of the media was kissing his ass).

Stern is such a an arrogant weasel.

and reading this stuff about Sterling really p---es me off. That guy is the biggest piece of crap ever to own a sports team. To not pay for an assistant coaches cancer surgery is such a scumbag move. Then he lets his own players put together $70,000 so the coach can have the surgery. Well I hope all that money makes him happy because that's about the only thing he has going for him, by all accounts he is a huge scumbag .

I agree...I honestly did not know much about how awful he is until I read that article....just horrible and heartless...how is he still a legitimate NBA owner?

"Teams tremble over retribution from Stern and fear it in the form of officiating."

I've believed this for a long time; Lord Stern and his Imperial Military administering justice to the heretics.

It will be a cause for celebration when Stern and Sterling are no longer a part of the NBA

That makes it sound like the NBA Commissioner is more like a monarch where his descendants take over.

Wojo usually lays it on a bit thick, but I guess sometimes it's called for.

If players and coaches can't be very critical about what goes on in the NBA, who can be?

It's a private enterprise.  There doesn't need to be freedom of speech per se'.

Having said that...When somebody is fined or suspended for stating the obvious....It does absolutely nothing to preserve the "integrity" of the product.

IMHO, where the dominance is most revealing is in listening to the commentators....Jeff Van Gundy most specifically.  VanGundy will go into coach mode when there's an obvious blown call and bloviate pretty heavily...Then it appears to occur to him what he's doing and he'll get completely off-subject and start gushing about the greatness of the NBA or a specific player.

I love the celtics and the NBA, but this is becoming the WWF.  They are going to start to lose some people

It's becoming the WWF only in the context that stars are pretty much pre-determined to succeed.  Like the WWE, there are times where the officials just don't appear to be looking when something that should be called happens right in front of them.

How about Sterling's locker room sleeziness. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/07/elgin-baylor-donald-sterling-clippers-lawsuit_n_805909.html  ....Classy guy, Sterling, protected by Emperor "no clothes" Stern.

Shocking, Wojo writes a scathing article about a guy that the vast majority of fans hate.  I never saw this coming...

Well, I can see someone is going to get the NBA blacklist.
