No.  He's a rapist.

In general, I root for the laundry.  But there are exceptions to this rule and Kobe Bryant would be one of them.

Papelbon is another exception.  I can't stomach that guy.  Completely loathsome!

Haven't read through previous posts yet, but I'm betting most people won't be able to imagine Kobe in green, no matter the circumstances.

IF Kobe and Buss relationship explodes next season Post PJackson, and Kobe jumped ship to come here, I'd root for him.

IF Kobe was drafted in 96 by us(or we had trade Fox/Wesley to NO for him, then I'd still root for him. 98 Pierce would still had been drafted, and we had Walker in 96. That trio would've competed just as well as the Miami Big 3. KG still joins in 08(or sooner) and this year we'd be working on banner # 22 or 23.

Does Kobe bother me sometimes YES and especially in that Laker uniform. But hands down, IN HIS PRIME, he puts LeBron to shame. No matter what team he's on, LBJ will not win 5 rings
Can't stop, Rondo!

Yes, I would.  I don't really care about off court stuff in general, and Kobe works his butt off, and is a heck of a basketball player.

If he was drafted here, probably.  I'd like to think that I'd have the same view of the Colorado stuff, but fans have a way of rallying to protect their own, and my guess is that most Celtics fans (including myself) would give him the benefit of the doubt, even if our respect for him decreased.  I'm sure I'd think he was an arrogant jerk, but he'd be our jerk.

If we'd acquired him after his stint on the Lakers, though, I wouldn't like him.  I have no desire to ever see Kobe in our uniform.

I think the majority of people posting in this thread are being a little disingenuous.  If he were drafted here from the start of his career and was a significant part of 5 championship banners over the past decade for us, then we would love him on the court.  We would also tolerate his personality, and even make excuses for it ("he just works so hard", "he just wants to win so bad" etc.).

This is not true if he came after 15 years as a Laker.

In a heartbeat.  Best player in the game.  Great competitor.  Champion.

Yes. Other than Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, the NBA has never had as fierce a competitor as Kobe. Just a fact.

I would appreciate his game and competitiveness, but I would never like the person.  Plus, right now the Celts are extremely unselfish with the ball.  I might feel like Kobe is trying to do more than he should- Antoine Walker style.

I never warmed to Rasheed when he came here.  Maybe it didn't help matters that he was washed up.

Would the Lakers like Paul Pierce if HE were a Laker?

I think that I would have no choice but to like Kobe as a Celtic in this hypothetical alternate universe you speak of.  ;)

Whatever.

Sure.
