You gotta chill out. Did you expect people not to disagree with your opinion when you are citing a Youtube video as a reason why someone is an elite shotblocker while ignoring every stat that says KG never was? KG has blocked ~1800 shots in his career. That's a lot of blocked shots..and with 1800 to choose from, I could make a video for days. That doesn't change the fact that KG was never ELITE at it. He was very good, I'll give you that..but that's all.

Just for the record this isn't a slight at Garnett's defense. He's smart. I'd take Garnett's type of defense 7 days a week over someone like Camby who tries to block every shot in the universe which actually becomes counterproductive to the team's defense at times.

It seems like we have to revisit this a lot lately.  If you haven't read the rules in a while, refamiliarize yourself with them.  There have been additions along the way. 

I'd like to point this part out again.  Not sure why we have to revisit this on, seemingly, a weekly basis these days.

I would say top 5...but I agree.  It would take an incredible offer to even consider trading him.

We are 5-1 and we had a five game winning streak with Nenad.   That is a .83% winning percentage with Krstic in the lineup.  We won .58% of our games with Perk this year.  We were 7-5 with Perk.  This is with the critical factor that the new guys do not know the plays or the like.

I don't think Krstic as much as poor shooting did us in last night.  We shot .44% from the field and the other team shot .52%.   Anytime the other team is shooting 8 Points higher than you and the rebounds are even your done.   That was the big difference.  DeAndre had a nice game but so did Krstic with 20.  WE LOST BLAME OUR SHOOTING  should be the slogan.  Anytime you shoot in the low forties and they shoot in the fifties and the possessions are similiar you will lose as its simple math.

I have always thought 1 BPG was a good and a solid shot blocker.   Anything more than 3 BPG is elite swatting.  Not many guys are elite otherwise it isn't elite is it?

The Clippers abused us on the perimeter, they got to the paint whenever they wanted.

I don't think Perk would have made a difference at all in last night's game...he wouldn't have been able to stop any of the penetration nor would he have blocked a single one of D. Jordan's dunks.

droponov - I respect your posting of statistics, but when a player has a youtube video dedicated to JUST SHOTBLOCKING - to me that warrants an elite shotblocker.

What other players have a vid dedicated to just that? A few - but not many.

If you chose to use statistics, that's ok - but to me I chose to label KG as I see fit.

Youtube is now a source of authority on how good a player is?

Faf - like I stated in my post - to me it does a fine job of stating what KG brought to the table defensively.

Yes - to me - it is a good authority on what a player can do - or did in his career.

Please don't read any more into what I posted.

A highlight reel is a very poor way to judge a player, Vince Carter has more highlight plays than Tim Duncan after all.

1) the league average for FG% is 45%, so we actually had about an average shooting night. We just played NO D and let the clippers shoot 52%. That was obviously the real problem here. In other news, I didn't know Mike D'Antoni had an account on Celticsblog.

2) Nobody in the league averages over 3 bpg. Bogut is leading the league at 2.8, so huh?

As for KG and blocks, he's definitely not an elite shot-blocker any more, but in his prime he was (or at the very least, on the cusp of elite).  It's not a weakness, but also not a huge strength.

We didnt lose because of Krstic, we lost because our ENTIRE team was horrible for 3 quarters.

This is one of those games where the box score tells lies.

Every single one of our players was terrible until the 4th quarter where they miraculously started playing defense and hitting shots, up until then, they looked like they couldnt care less about this game.

All I know is I can't remember the last time Perk grabbed 6 offensive boards. Krstic has nowdone this twice in just a few games. And he's still working out the kinks. He's never gonna deliver hard fouls or intimidate the way Perk did. There is no stat for that. But I thought he has shown consistent improvement defensively over the course of these games. I thought most all of his defensive rotations last night were correct and right on time. He had his hands up. He made himself big. His pick n roll defense and recover still needs work but I saw an improvement in even that last night. Last night was about Rondo and Ray just turning in a positively lackluster defensive effort. Or lack thereof. Allowing penetrating guards to consistently get into the paint is gonna break down any good defense and there wasn't think Perk could've done better last night against Jordan. Only thing he could've done is maybe lay out Foye on a drive.
