I'm probably wrong but I don't think I've seen one thread complaining about any of these guys this year. They have played so well this year that even their harshest critics (us fans) can't really say anything bad about them. Forget the numbers you can really tell a player is playing well when a lot of time passes and we dont see any complaining threads about them.

Watching KG brick shot after shot tonight I thought for a second that some he could be the first to get a complaint thread. But he did what he does everynight and the shots just didnt fall so I'm not surprised people recognized that

They are old.

Thats the excuse when they are bad.

Rondo is young he doesent have an excuse

Last year the new craze was how this was "Rondo's team now"

Yet night after night hes looking to Pierce or Ray to carry him to wins since he cant do anything on his own and barely gets to the line because hes afraid of bricking freethrows.

This kid has a long way to go before this is his team.

Since their minutes have decreased, their bodies are being beat up as much night after night and it's really shown. They don't have to put up 40 minutes a night to be effective. In the limited time they play, they are very effective and have shown a bit of a youthful spark as a result of it.

I hear you but all of them are playing more minutes this year, we've dealt with plenty of injuries this year and a pretty big roster shake up and we are #1 in the conference and are going to get a lot more wins than last year. It's really remarkable.

Ray is one of the most efficient 2-guards in the league, he is an ideal fit for this team.

Pierce is still playing his game, he has definitely slowed down...but athleticism was never a real big part of his game.

KG has clearly had the biggest fall-off, but his desire is second to none.

I think the biggest problem with the Big Three is there inability to draw fouls.  Free throws are easy points and we don't get enough of them.

I think Ray Allen is playing some of his best basketball since coming to Boston. He has a much better understanding of where his shots are coming from and how he fits into the team dynamic than he did in his first season here. Ray was excellent in 08-09 too but he struggled a bit last year until after the trade deadline.

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were both much more effective in 07-08 than this year ... but both are playing at a level comparable with where they were in 08-09 which is very good (aging well).

Personally I think all three are playing about as well or maybe in Ray's case better than they did in 07.
KG has had a nice run of double-doubles. His post game has been excellent as has his outside shot. He's playing excellent defense. Sure he had an off shooting night last night, but he still ended up with 16 and 8.
Pierce looks like he's in the best shape in years. He been taking the ball to the hole strong. His rebounding has been excellent for a 3 and he hasn't forced his shots as he's been known to do in the past.
And Ray, what can you say. He's shooting light's out and with more consistancy than I've seen before. Last year he was either really hot or really cold. This year you can count on him pretty much every game. He's also been rebounding and going to the hoop a little more.
I've been very happy with the play of all 3. I don't think there is another team in the league that could have had the amount of injuries and added more new players and contiued to win than this team has. I mean look at all that and yet they still have the best record in the east. I can't see what there is to complain about with those 3.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Ray's having his most consistent shooting year with us so far. There hasn't been much if any streakiness with his shooting this year. KG is back to rebounding and defending at a high level when it looked like a fork was sticking out of his back last year. Pierce is ridiculously efficient playing within the team scheme and he rarely makes mistakes these days. There's simply not much to complain about.

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were both much more effective in 07-08 than this year ... but both are playing at a level comparable with where they were in 08-09 which is very good (aging well).

The numbers dont back up what your sayin at all about pierce. He's shootin 3s the same almost, while shootin 4% better fg%, and .7 less turnovers

They're both doing less on offense on their own and PP is handling the ball less. That makes them more efficient. Having Rondo handle the ball more and run the offense makes them more efficient.

Exactly.

Go back and watch the 07-08 Celtics, especially in the playoffs. We ran almost our entire offense through Pierce/KG, now Rondo has the ball in his hands much more than either of them do.
