If we go back to 07' and make a this same trade with the Seattle Supersonics (OKC Thunder) it would essentially be like this and far one-sided.

Boston Sends: Kendrick Perkins, Wally Sczerbiak & Delonte West (buy-out candidate)

Boston receives: Ray Allen, #5 in the 07' draft Jeff Green, Glen Big-Baby Davis, Delonte West (coming back after agreeing to buy-out with Seattle) & the Clippers 2012 or 13 1st rounder.

Know after seeing how we fleeced that organization. How can this be a bad trade by any standards? And I didn't even involve Nenad Kristic. We got over BIG!

How do you come up with that trade for '07? Whats the rationale?

Bit confused here.

So the Celtics are giving up the '08 title for a rookie SF to be third on the depth chart and not having a starting C that was a key (along with KG) of shutting down the big men of the Lakers?

Yeah, not good.

You guys are perfectly missing the point here. I'm basically saying we gave up Nothing but Perk! Wally is not in the league anymore. We still have our title and we get back every asset we traded in the original deal for Ray Allen now. Allen,Green,West,Baby,Kristic and a 1st for Perk! Why are we still dwelling on the Perkins trade after hearing this.

Making a good trade before doesn't make it okay to make a bad trade now

This was discussed in here.

If you're going to view things like this (which I think is more silly than anything else), you need to look at what we have now, versus our assets at the time.  Thus, we didn't receive Jeff Green; we already had him with the #5 pick in the draft.

I think this is how it breaks down, although I could have missed something:

Boston trades:  Perk, Walker, House, Wally, Giddens, 2.7 years of Jeff Green, 2 years of Delonte, 2008 2nd rounder (?)

Boston receives: Ray Allen, BBD, Kristic, 1 year of Nate, Clippers #1

Yeah, not good.

Yeah, I hate these things (just like I hate talking about "rumored" trades that never happened).  There are so many variables that can change history in them, and they just aren't based in reality.

Honestly, I don't think we need to see this to understand the value we got in the Perk trade.  I think it was pretty evident that the value went in the C's favor.  The question that most people who don't like the trade seems to have is whether they sacrificed a chance at a title in the small window they have for "value" that may not pay off until this team is no longer a contender.  And no matter how good the value was, I don't think that question can be answered until we see how the playoffs play out.

Also Giddens would probably have been a higher pick, because they wouldn't have been nearly as good right away without Perk, so perhaps he would have been George Hill, Serge Ibaka, or or Nicolas Batum.

Actually, only one thing will "kill the Perkins trade bitterness forever"

-->winning the title this year.

anything short of that will result in endless debate as to whether we'd have won without making the deal

Yeah you guys really missed the point I was making. I was only using people who involved in the Seattle, Boston organizations at that time in 07' and part of the original deal. Guess that was overlooked. Therefore I didn't use Nate or Kristic. Guess you guys are just hard up on Perkins leaving to miss such a easy point.

You summed up why I don't like the trade.

I have nothing against the talent of Green.  I like him as a player and have no issue with him being on the Celtics.

I am just worried about the big man situation come playoff time.  The Celtics are not hoping at least one of two big men is healthy during the playoffs vs. one of three.  I liked the odds better when there were three.  (Yes, the Celtics have other big men.  But they are the jumpshooting non intimidating on defense type.. Except KG who is strictly a PF)

I just chuckled at the title. Some people are still angry that Danny let Powe go to the Cavs last year.

And your missing the point of what the team would have looked liked in 08.

Does KG even agree to come to Boston when he sees he is the biggest guy on the roster?  Or does he force himself to LA instead where they have other big men?

You play the "what if" game, you can go where ever you want.

The truth is these are two separate trades that happen to include the same two teams with the draft pick that went out in one, the player taken comes back in the other.

The first trade was awesome for Boston.  The 2nd trade, there are alot of questions that have to be answered.
