In the midst of their worst losing streak of the season and under significant pressure and scrutiny, the Miami Heat are starting to show some cracks.

"It is common sense, we can talk about it, but I think it's evident," Bosh said. "I just have to get it where I'm effective. I'm a big man. I can shoot the ball but I'm a big man. So I have to get it where big guys get it. Then I feel I can start helping out this team more.
"

Meanwhile, Dwyane Wade hinted that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra may need to re-evaluate the rotation.

Quote
Bosh has operated out of the high post and taken mostly jump shots while being a screen-setter for teammates Wade and LeBron James. Bosh said he planned to raise the issue with teammates and Spoelstra.

Quote
"I've got to get back in my comfort zone, I haven't been in my comfort zone," Bosh said. "A lot of things are new for me. I just have to be more aggressive in demanding my [the ball] comfort zone, you know I'll take the fault for that... I'm effective down in the low post area, so that is where I need to start getting the ball. I need to be assertive in demanding it.

Quote
"I'm saying what I need to do as a player, a closed mouth doesn't get fed," Bosh said. "I'm uncomfortable now so you might as well do something else. If there's a disagreement or something, that's fine, we can talk about it. If they don't want that, that's OK, but I just feel that I have to be my normal self. I'm not there right now. I haven't been there many times this season."

All of that is irrelevant. Of relevance is LeBron wearing a pink sweater in the postgame press conference after Crygate.

  • Rondo = Good
Everybody who thought the Heat were going to buzz-saw their way through the league (including myself, at least for a time) were foolish.  Though basketball is about the stars, it takes a full team with depth to win consistently against decent teams.

The Heat still have the best core in the league.  Barring career altering injuries to their Big 3, it is inevitable that they will someday be a truly great team.

However, it was always silly to think that they'd be the best team in the league before they got a chance to really learn to play together and develop chemistry and without a good supporting cast.  Give them another year or so together and get them a real starting point guard and center and a few impact players off the bench (e.g. Haslem) and they will be just as impressive as everybody thought they'd be.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

I didn't think they were going to buzzsaw because I have never bought into LeBron James.   I don't get stat dunk and saw how he stagnates an offense's flow despite heady assist numbers.  I've always known he is a mediocre shooter.  I've known for years though that he doesn't do well in pressure games and the pressure is mounting.  Despite all the stats his supporters throw out there he doesn't always deliver the goods when games matter.  I don't think adding things will suddenly change LeBron into Captain Clutch though like some here.

A guy either has the killer instinct or he doesn't have it.  I think he doesn't have it.  It's really hard to fake mental toughness if you don't have it others can smell and circle in on you.  These guys don't really have it.   I thought Wade might have some as he did well in the finals he won.  I knew LeBron and Bosh didn't have it.  Mentally tough guys don't quit on their teams or get swept in the finals.  Both have long histories of nice stats but wilting when it matters.  Add a coach that Spoelstra with the crying comments and this is not a good situation.   Oh, they will win some games before the season is over.   But the spectre of doubt clearly affects this team and they are not responding well to the pressure.   You can almost think they thought this would be easy and bought into the hype.   They are not used to being hated league wide.   They have not changed their games to fit together better.   When taken into perspective it really makes the 2008 Celtics easier to appreciate and marvel how they came together for a championship.

Bottom line, is this was a terrible experiment that went awry.   Players put together this team and they are not functional as a result.   They would be best served trading Wade or LeBron and getting some pieces that can play with the remainder.  Adding Bibby who needs the ball too is like throwing gas on the fire.  Bosh really is struggling under the spotlight though.  I think he is miserable and underperforming there.

Wade and LeBron played about as good as they can play last night and they still lost.   They combined for what, 69 points and shot well too.  Spoelstra is a complete joke for going public for that comment.   I think his players will get him fired as the next step in this greek tragedy.

I'm still coming to terms with the fact that some people still think Chris Bosh is a superstar. He's nothing of the sort. Every big man plays well for the Raptors for some reason or another.
