Just a lot of problems with this group of guys.

1) Bosh simply plays out of position, though by his comments, seems he is going to attempt to make a change, as well as be assertive...stay tuned.

2) Wade and James are only effective on the fast-break, transition game.  Half-court-wise, they aren't very effective.

3) Someone has to step up and assume actual leadership of the team, and someone has to accept taking the backseat.  When Boston acquired Garnett & Allen, they changed the landscape of Boston basketball (moreso Garnett), however, the team was and is still led by Paul Pierce.  Garnett and Allen accepted this & it's been pretty good sailing ever since.

4) The coach has no control over this team.  It's another franchise dictated by its stars.  If all three of those guys went to upper management tomorrow and said, "Get rid of this guy", he'd be out the door.  I think he is gone after their season concludes.

5) The bench needs to improve.  Losing Haslem clearly hurt them, as well.  I stated in another thread that I believed outside of 1 or 2 guys, I felt they just threw random parts together just for the sake of having a full roster.  They need to really address this issue over the summer.

They, in all likelihood, will not win the NBA championship this season.  They've got a lot of firepower with Wade & James.  However, the lack of bench, the lack of a real system that utilizes everyone properly and effectively has caught up with them.  Give them a good year or two, and they will become the force that everyone thought they could have been this year.  You can hate MIA all you want, but they will make sure this ship gets right in the coming years.  Just because it probably isn't going to work in their first year together doesn't mean it won't work in 2 or 3 years.  There window is much, much larger than what Boston has now, or even when they came together in 2008.

I've always been a little luke-warm on C-Webb and his commentary, but man.  My respect for him just shot through the roof.

C-Webb was a great player, and now he's one of my favorite commentators.

Well-Spoken by him.

I just wish that MIA would've taken a page from what happened in Boston in Summer of 07, with KG, Paul and Ray. The pure class that was exhibited by our Big Three during the press conferences...no frills, no "WWF-Like" Pep Rally, with KG (Chris Bosh) flexing his muscles, lol.....

Wade, Lebron and Chris just got caught up in the hype, and and now they are being exposed.

I bet that not once did any of them say "Well, how did Paul, Ray and KG handle themselves when they came together?"

Personally, I don't think that MIA gets ENOUGH play time here on CelticsBlog. Since last summer, all Celtics fans have had to endure is the constant love from ESPN for MIA, the constantly high "Hollinger" rankings, the constant barrage of commercials....just the hype...

Did the media forget that Boston was 6 min (and maybe a Perk) away from Banner 18? Did Boston just dissolve overnight?

The funny thing is that IF MIA beats LA tomorrow night, I bet that they will immediately jump back into Championship contention and their very obvious shortcomings will once again be overlooked by the media - until they play Boston again.

I knew LeBron and Bosh didn't have it.  Mentally tough guys don't quit on their teams or get swept in the finals.

Seriously! Mentally tough guys don't get swept in the Finals! Like Shaq! Magic Johnson! and Wes Unseld!

I'm not sure why you think the Celtics keep getting overlooked. Every major analyst has the C's as a championship contender.

I didn't watch the game last night, but the first thing I checked was the box score. Unless you got a solid starting five you're not going to win many game only getting 8 points from the bench. Miami only got 3 decent players, every one else is garbage. Bibby's not any better than Aryoo

I'm not sure why people think it's inevitable that the Heat will eventually be a great team.  Will they win a lot of games?  Any team with two players like LeBron and Wade will win a lot of games, but be great?

Even under existing rules, the Heat have only got the MLE to offer and their only meaningful trade chip is Bosh.  Given what we've seen this season, I'm not sure Miami will be any more attractive to players than New York, LA, Chicago or other top teams and NO ONE is going to give up multiple good players for Bosh.  Given that the new labor agreement will likely include a tougher salary cap and more restrictions on player movement, it's not going to be at all that simple for Miami to improve its roster.

That leaves coaching, but I don't think even Pat Riley or Phil Jackson could get this team to do the things it needs to do to be great.

It's going to be tough to get good players with the amount of money they have to work with but it's doable. They struck out with the Mike Miller sighing. If they could land a decent player from the draft that could contribute off the bench and a couple of decent role players the 3 of them only need 4 other role players. 7 solid players could do some damage in the playoffs.

Add a decent coach and that would help too.

The thing about the whole mess is not only that each of us thinks we know exactly what change(s) need to happen, simple changes, tweaks, perhaps, that, if embraced by those concerned, would make even the current Miami roster not only a legit title contender, but a dominant force to an extent and of such duration, even, such as this league has witnessed only once in its over half-century history, but that this knowledge evokes the widest range of emotional responses, bringing us to at once the highest levels of jealously, scorn, excitement, hope, and fear and consequently we simlpy can't stop watching, as whatever this is, we know only that it is an epic moment in the history of professional basketball in this country.
