I think he'll be solid in the spot minutes he gets while Rondo is resting.

Assuming he doesn't cause problems off the court with the rest of the team, Arroyo will be great for us.

I know hes know for that but this year he has been very profesional. Im hoping he can do a good job backing up Rondo , im sure if he plays good i think west will be playing more at the 2 where he is more comfortable playing.

He certainly gives us options especially if Wafer is hurt.

You are right that Delonte is probably more comfortable as the off guard.

Tell me something about Arroyo and try to be subjective...

How is his defense? Physical? Since you are a big supporter I am assuming you have seen him play an awful lot more than I have. I have always liked his game from afar but dont know much about the guy.

Thanks and TP for joining us here!

His defense sucks in the rondo thread i posted that rondo needs to teach arroyo defense and arroyo needs to teach ball handle to rondo.

Arroyo is Delonte's backup.

Once Delonte comes back he'll be playing next to never. But until Delonte comes back he'll be fine.

Yeah because Rondo really needs help with that.

Yeap thats the way it would be until further notice, trust me west is a good shooter over arroyo but does not run an offense better than arroyo, also arroyo is in a more basketball shape this year , delonte havent done anything this year because of injuries.

Hey everyone, I used to post on here a few years back(mostly leading up to the KG trade).  I just started a new account and am happy to be back.

Back to the point.  I like us grabbing Arroyo.  He will be a solid backup and definitely low risk-high reward.  Also, this signing, like the Perk-Green trade, reminds of something that the great Bill Belicheck would do.  Here, not only do we get a solid PG off the bench, but we also get a guy who has spent the first half of the season in the competition's locker room.  He has first hand knowledge of the Heat's plays as well as the behind the scenes goings on.

I am very pleased with all of these deadline(ish) moves and, as we go forward, I am confident that all of the skeptical Celtics' fans will grow to appreciate them as well.

Lol, I don't condone spying or anything (via Bill Belichick/Patriots spygate), however since Arroyo has been playing back-up point guard for the Miami Heat up until recently he is probably more familiar with the Heat's offense than Mike Bibby is right now. That might come in handy for Arroyo when the Boston Celtics play the Heat again next month.

Welcome aboard Alex, glad to have ya.
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

I'm totally on board with the signing, the moment I knew he was waived for sure I wanted to pick him up. I even posted on a miami heat forum about Arroyo going to the celtics, before there were any rumors or anything and sure enough 3 days later we signed him.

I think our guys will love him because he has got to hate the heat now as much as the celtics do. They will love picking his brain and hearing all the dirt about what goes on in the heat locker room.

And aside from all that he's a great 3-point shooter. He's a pure PG which is what you want out of a backup unit, especially one like ours that has a lot of offensive potential.

Hi every body. This is my third post.

I have to disagree with Alex's appreciation of Arroyo's defense. It is true that Arroyo has had a bad reputation as a defender. However, in the past two years Arroyo has developed better defensive skills. I would say that his defense is more than adequate against good PGs. However, against top PGs nobody can defend efficiently all the time, that is why these are elite PGs. Even elite PGs have difficulty defending other elite PGs.

In Arroyo the Celtics will get a very solid professional PG, that makes few mistakes, that knows the game, has a high basketball IQ, can create his own shot and is a great distributor because of his very good court vision. Also, for this year, he has developed his three point shot to add to his outstanding 20 feet jump-shot.

It doesn't matter what we think, hes a Celtic and its counter productive to have no faith in the guy. His defense sucks but he can hit open shots, ya hes a low risk #3 PG
