He’s serviceable, and seems relatively capable of playing some quality minutes. But in order to prevent disappointment I refuse to expect much.

I don't understand why the Heat dropped him. I know they wanted to bring in Bibby, but wouldn't they want Arroyo as a backup?

Who are they gonna let go of instead?
Magloire? Howard? Chalmers? Those guys are studs.
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

Juwan Howard is the ugliest man in the NBA. Without a doubt.

Back to the point, arroyo seems like a good type and I would agree with others that say he has more upside than Bibby. Miami....you crazy.

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?

You can also lump me in the crowd who likes him over Bibby. I think Arroyo is more than willing the accept whatever small role he's given. I'm not sure if the same can be said for Bibby.

Carlos is a good shooter and a true point guard. He'll fit in nice for his limited role and I think he'll be able to carry his own weight if for some reason we're with Delonte for a few games.

Plus, there's that added bonus of him being completely familiar with everyone Miami does. I was a little upset over this signing not being Antonio Daniels, but Carlos' CIA-esque intel he'll be providing us with is valuable.

Delonte is showing himself to be this years pervis ellison!  If Arroyo is 3rd string pg, great.  If dwest can't give us minutes than arroyo is extremely important to us as bradley looks 3 years from being an nba player.

I remember how excited I was that offseason.  We added Dominique, Travis Knight and "Out of Service" Pervis!  What a let down!

I think he will be fine.  More of a true PG than Bibby who is really a short SG.  Bibby won't help MIA because he needs the ball too so their problems got worse.

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
Arroyo was hired by the Celtics and is a backup PG. Que sera, sera.
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

I'm okay with this signing. I still believe if West is healthy, and that's a big if' that he's backing up Rondo. Considering how little he's played, West has looked pretty good when he's out there. He has a desent handle, can shot, passes okay, and plays tough D.
That being said, when he's out, which is often, the Celtics tend to play Rondo into the ground. Arroyo would be able to give them 10-15 minutes of desent point guard play so Rondo will be have something left come playoff time.
I don't see any real down side to this signing.

I think he's a great acquisition. We take someone who was a regular starter this season for the Heat and ask him to help handle PG duties off of our bench. He'll do a lot better at protecting the ball than Nate did, that's for sure.

I find it amazing that our bench is now filled with four people who were regular starters on their former teams over the past two years. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that come playoff time, Danny's going to look like a genius for the Perk trade and his free agent pickups.
