Okay here’s the deal. Our point guard Rajon Rondo is prone to the bad game. When he has one of these games, he looks really really bad. For whatever reason at times, he looks disengaged on defense and turns the ball over at an alarming rate.

I don’t think this happens too often but some posters here think it happens quite a bit more than I do.  I want to figure out for myself if I am forgetting about more Bad Rondo games than I think I am so I am going to keep a running tally for the rest of the season of Good Rondo vs. Bad Rondo games.

After each game I will make a gut check call as to which Rondo we just saw. I will not rely on his stat line, only the memories that are still fresh from the game. After I post what I saw, posters will have until tip off of the next game to debate whether I made the right call. I might change my mind! Clearly this is VERY scientific. ;)

There are 21 games left (22 including last night). A pretty good sample size to see what kind of player we really have. Hopefully this will clear some things up for myself and for others as well.

Some Definitions:

Good Rondo: great passer, aggressive slasher to the basket, aggressive but under control defender, difference making rebounder, takes care of the ball, intense competitor

Bad Rondo: lazy gambler of a defender, passive on offense, attempts the spectacular pass when the easy pass was also available, turnover prone

He does not have to hit on all of these characteristics on a given night but at least a couple.

**Keep in mind this thread is JUST FOR FUN!!! I know it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea seeing as it is very subjective. I also wont be offended if no one participates. I will update anyway!

Okay for last nights game:

3/6/2011

Boston Celtics: 89
Milwaukee Bucks: 83

The verdict is in…

BAD RONDO!!!

Good Rondo - 0 W-L in these games: 0-0

Bad Rondo - 1 W-L in these games: 1-0

A lot of people already do. Are we doing this for all of our players, or is Rondo the only one that people here can readily identify good and bad games from?

Nope. Just Rondo. It's good to keep track of these sorts of things.

Kind of like no one believes any information spread via word of mouth until it is on an official document with a header and a logo.

This is that "official" document. ;) ;)

if you are doing this crap, how about adding whether the team won or not.  for example, bad rondo-1, celtics WIN

Pkease read the original post. This is just for fun. Not everyone like threads like this and I really dont appreciate the tone..."crap"...really?

I did write that they won by the way. If you are going to crap on something why dont you read all of the crap first.

u indicate they won, but your not keeping a tally of it.  my suggestion is that u keep the tally of games won, whether "good or bad" rondo plays

I disagree.  I think "Bad" Rondo shows up more often than "Good" Rondo.

Of course, I think at times it is a bit of an unfair label, since "Bad" Rondo is still significantly better than any PG we have seen in Boston in years.  But the fact that we know he can be significantly better if he is completely focussed has spoiled us a bit, and I think if he is going to make that leap to superstar status that some people think he is capable of, he is going to have to learn to play closer to he does on his best days about 90% of the time.

Bad Rondo. He got destroyed in both the Bucks game and the Warriors game. With all that speed I just dont understand why he cant stay in between his man and the basket.

He did get beaten badly in the Bucks game, but I thought he played well in the Warriors game.  Curry only scored 9 points, and Rondo tallied 5 steals and 16 assists against 3 turnovers.  He didn't shoot well, but he impacted the game in other ways.

Can we do a corresponding "Good CelticsBlog/Bad CelticsBlog" thread?  I think the correlation would be interesting  :P

Can anyone even name 5 bad games Rondo has had this year?
