I just believe that many of us will always miss and love Kendrick. I am one of those.

I am sure that there will always be some that don't agree with the trade. That's ok, too.

I think that a "Good" trade is one that works out for both organizations, and IMO this is one of them. A trade between two successful organizations, one with a time-honored tradition, and one that is up-and-coming.

OKC needed one of the top defensive centers in the league to beef up their frontline against the likes of LA, and we needed that Clip 1st round pick, a TRUE Small Forward that could start one day soon AND FINALLY backup Paul Pierce (and KG in some instances). Boston also needed a decent replacement for Perk - and we got that in Nenad. He may not be known as a defensive stopper, but he has already shown good offensive skill, can rebound at a decent clip, and can certainly spread the floor.

Lord knows, I have waited for a Small Forward like this since Posey left, and with JG we now have that....and he's only 24 and WAS a starter on OKC. I can't count the numerous threads here in the Forums and on the Blog main page that kept asking Danny to acquire "A LASF" "Long, Athletic, SF"...I have seen so many options come up -

"Can we get Dorell Wright?" "Michael Pietrus?" "Grant Hill?", etc, etc...

Well, Jeff Green has all of those players beat, in one way or another.

And we got him.

I watched an interview with Kendrick on NBATV a few days after the Trade, and what he said sent a chill up my spine:

"Well, TO BE HONEST", he said, "I was thinking about OKC since last Summer."

There you go.

I think that fact that Danny had the courage to actually pull the trigger on such a trade in the middle of a playoff run and it affected TWO teams is what had KG and company and Perk in shock, at least temporarily.

Brilliant move by Danny.

Danny didn't send Perk to just ANY team.

He sent Perk to OKC - a Team and Organization with a very Bright future.

Some liar, right there.

I see a GM that is trying desperately to keep Boston viable, and at the same time maybe extend Paul, KG and Ray's window?

I think he is doing that. I would not be surprised to see Boston with a very similar record next year at this point - and it will be because of Delonte, JG, Nenad, Troy, Sasha, Glen (hopefully) and:

Danny.

Thanks, DA.

I know that the reality is that we may not be able to keep everyone after we win Banner 18 this June. But I'm sure we'll bring back most of those I listed.

But at least, for now? Danny has resurrected a bench that is very close to, if not succeeding, the bench we had in 2007-08.

Again - Thanks Danny. I bet that Doc is thanking him, too.

This.

GM's don't owe you anything but to try and help the team shoot for a title-in the present and in the future. i think danny did that and more importantly, i think danny thinks he did that. and i don't think danny checks blogs to make sure he didn't hurt anyone's feelings.

And that.

TP's, gents.

These thread are getting old...!

I agree. When I saw the thread title, I immediately made a guess who might be the poster and guessed the right one out of 5 that came to mind. ::) ;D

Ainge's  main job is to get this team better and is getting paid to do the tough decisions. Being honest to any of us is the last on his to do list. IF you don't like how he does things, don't watch the games or better yet, move to Oklahoma ;)

We need some positivity here for a change.

What's done is done...Danny has made his share of mistakes..and other times, he has come out looking really good...that said, "Danny rules!"..."Danny is god"...."Danny smells like roses"..all this is over the top.

And I see nothing wrong in calling Danny a liar...he has lied on certain subjects...KG's health being a prime example.

I think that the KG issue was more of Danny being "Strategically Deceptive" about KG's health - rather than give our opponents the idea of:

"Well, we don't have to worry about KG, so we can easily beat Boston, now."

With that, I don't see how Danny was lying.

I still scratch my head on the Danny was lying about KG line they throw around. The excuse people give is that they wanted to sell tickets... really? Do you think the Celtics will have trouble selling tickets without KG? I don't envision it.

Considering that they held off KG from having surgery until the playoffs were over automatically already tells me that they were more honest than dishonest with the injury.

lol....can you imagine a scenaro this yr where PHX or DET believes that KG was not playing?

In that scenario, Alvin Gentry, Channing Frye and Charlie V can breathe a lot easier.

BUT - Poor Alvin doesn't get his Playoff Tickets............

Well, it's a bit sactimonious, IMO, for anyone to cast stones at 'strategic deceptiveness'.  Besides the fact that he needs to be strategic in his language given his role, fact is, we are ALL guilty of this type of behavior in our lives.

Did your wife ever ask you how she looks when she may not have picked out the most flattering outfit? What did you say?

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Whole lotta drama and not a whole lot of truth in this.
OP, when will you stop exaggerating and defaming the guy who just secured us banner 18?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

A few things:

- I didn't use the term "strategic deceptiveness".

- Not trying to be sactimonious or anything...just gave my opinion...didn't even try to bash our "beloved" GM...just said he lies at time...and I don't care.

- Don't have a wife or kids or cats. :P

Not sure if you're serious, but I am aware that some women want the cold truth, and some men aren't afraid to state it.  My example was just to make the point that it's likely that we all engage in some truth-stretching or truth-avoiding from time to time.  DA's word-parsing is sometimes necessary and I'm reluctant to pass judgment on it.

I agree with Roy (once again) . I have never liked Danny much...even when we won the title.... I think he threw a "hail Mary" pass in finally pulling off a trade that brought in Ray and finally KG (with the help of  a kindMcHale). Had he not thrown this "hail mary" pass at almost the end of his "5 year plan" he was close to being run out of town on a rail.

I think he is good scout for young talent and that's about it. I am glad he pulled of the Ray Allen KG stuff and that Banner 17 game to Boston, but I don't drink his juice. He is not honest, but he is not alone...I just think he is kind of snake in how he goes about his GM business, and sometimes he is a lucky snake........If he gets lucky and/or helps us bring # 18 then great, but I still won't be a big fan....

However I don't personally know Danny and in the end what I think of Danny matters not....I just love the Celtics....and want to win Banner #18.....I just hope Danny earns his paycheck

Perk and Green play completely different positions, Perkins is in a spot where he's helping everyone, rebounding, and blocking shots (which Danny thinks he's dropped off on)

Green will be a perimeter defender with a lot of length AND strength.

Green can easily become a great defender playing behind Rondo and in front of KG, how many All-Defensive teams did Perkins win? How many guys did he shut down before 2007?

Perkins is gone and he's not coming back, if you love him that much go buy one of those hideous OKC Jerseys. Jeff Green will have 100x the career of Perk. The guy is awesome and i love his attitude... but take off the Green goggles and put on the GREEN goggles.
