By the way, I don't understand the rule(s) on trades and injured players. I thought you couldn't trade injured players (because you can't in NBA 2K :P) and I remember the Wolves asked for an investigation this summer because Webster was injured when they acquired him. Anyones knows what's up with this situation?
You can trade an injured player, you just have to disclose the injury.

Trade calls are incredibly complex because of this, teams basically have to recite the entire medical history of players being traded on the phone so that team's aren't blindsided by a hidden issue.

So its likely that OKC knew that Nate's knee was hurting him. They probably decided to have him clean it up now since he's unlikely to play a part in their rotation this year with Westbrook/Maynor ahead of him.

Thanks for the explanation. So, this means that OKC knew that Perk was going to be out for a while too?

I also wonder if this means that trades that are vetoed after a player fails his physical are vetoed precisely because the team that traded the injured player didn't disclose his medical condition (most recent exemple in mind : OKC cancelling the Tyson Chandler trade because he had a problem with his toe).

What was the deal with Chandler to OKC again?  I remember it was when Chandler was struggling.  Wonder if they'e regretting not doing that now?

Edit:  Just looked it.  That was a steal of a deal for them.

Yes OKC would have certainly recieved a report on Perkin's recent knee sprain.

I think the veto wasn't a failure to disclose it, Chandler's toe had been an issue for a year running at that point. Instead OKC's doctors found it was much worse than what New Orleans had led them to believe. So likely it was a failure to state how bad it really was, or OKC doctor's were just a heck of a lot more cautious than New Orleans doctor's.

Now this completely kills anyone's argument that this move didn't help for now as well as future. Two healthy bodies for two injured ones.

Perk's injury is a much more short term one, besides most people are looking at short term as in playoffs, not March.

short term or not, we would have been without a bench (Nate, Perk, Semih, and Davis and Delonte) for a while, which would have ensured losing homecourt, if not even falling to the 3 or 4 seed, with no guarantee that Perk or Nate would be ok for the playoffs either. Now we have Green, Kristic, and Murphy off the bench to help out, with Dwest and Shaq back soon. That is a huge difference.

You have no idea how long these injuries might last. And even when they come back, the effects are often still there. Perk's not been the same all year and nate either. I don't expect them to just get much better all of a sudden. Also right now is trying to get homecourt for the playoffs, so that includes march. So speaking long term, I bet a gimpy perk and sloppy nate robinson is the best we would have gotten down the line for the playoffs anyway.

But if he got injured during a practice in OKC, how the heck that affected his performance in Boston?

I have no idea how long these injuries last. But how can coming off major knee surgery , and then spraining the MCL on your other knee during a regular play be great for the future ? March ? Playoffs ? Etc. Even next year, would he be 100% ?

Those knees have to be supporting a big body. A big body who pours his heart and soul out there on the court. He doesn't hold back or lay off, even being less than 100%.  I'm not a doctor, but I dont see how he gets better for the future. Too many red flags for my book.  I don't see anything 'short term' right now for Perk.

Maybe they see what Chandler is doing in Dallas and wished they hadn't vetoed that move.
