Would you trade Krstic straight up today for Semih?  Of course not. For Perk?  Not sure I would, as blasphemous as that sounds. I think Krystic will contribute more to starting 5 than Perk, at least the current sore kneed Perk.

I would never make the trade straight up.

And neither team involved thought so to.

Unless you think it was Nate for Green and a Clipper 1st rounder.

Uh oh.  If Peter May likes it, it means we *definitely* got shafted. ;)

exactly.... scares me when he's positive assuming he'll be wrong!

Don't worry, this really is a record heist.  Even Peter may couldn't miss it and by the time the C's pick #11 in the draft 16 months from now, it will be clear to everyone.
I think the Clips will do better than that to be honest.  Give Blake, Gordon, Jordan another year to mature together and work in Williams and Moon with the rest of the supporting cast--in addition to another lottery pick this year -- they'll finish with a decent record (for a Clipper team).  Possibly close to .500 ball.

The pick could wind up closer #14 or so which would still be pretty good, especially with Danny making the pick.  Then again, it'd make for a nice trade chip with our own pick (and assorted players) for Danny to acquire another big name player to put with Rondo.

He has a very strong point. Look at the pre-trade roster and the current one.

Pre-
Perkins/Shaq/Erden
KG/Big Baby/J.O.
Pierce/Daniels
Allen/Robinson/Wafer
Rondo/West/Bradley

Current-
Shaq/Krstic/Johnson
KG/Big Baby/Murphy/J.O.
Pierce/Green/Pavlovic
Allen/Wafer
Rondo/West/Bradley

We upgraded on every position except center and point guard which evens out well. I think Doc got more options and it will be exciting to see how this team does in the playoffs.

We didn't address shooting guard, we are worse at Center, and we are worse at point guard.

Any disagreements with that assessment?

lol very strongly disagree. We didnt get weaker at the point..
we got stronger at the two by getting stronger at the 3.

delonte ray pierce and sasha can play the 2, green sasha and paul can play the three, green krstic murphy bbd and jo can play pf.

we got weaker defensively at the C position, but thats about it. We got better all around imo
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

How are we worse at point guard after the trade? Unless you're assuming Delonte will not be healthy. Nate was horrible IMO. Delonte is the perfect backup and can slide over to the 2guard as well as Pierce. Most of our guys can play multiple positions so depth at any position is not a worry for me if healthy.

If healthy, we are much better at the center position. Kristic is much better than Semih and fits perfectly in our offense. I love Perk but he's definitely overrated. It will weaken us defensively but we play a team like the Lakers, instead of them not having to guard Rondo and Perk they will now have to leave Kristic and Murphy open as well as Shaq. We'll be much harder to guard and if you remember we could not score agains LA in the finals.

100% agree with you.  The thing the C's have now is a team of 2 position players.

West is PG/SG
Pavlovic is SG/SF
Pierce is SF/SG
Green is SF/PF
Garnett is PF/C
Kristic is PF/C
Murphy is PF/C

Having 2 position players are very helpfull because it makes it almost imposible for the other team to throw a roster out there that the C's can not match up with.  I think that is the key to this hold thing.

I'm going to track that Clippers pick like a hawk.  Right now, it'd be the #8 pick, just percentage points ahead of Detroit at #7.

You're leaving two big concepts out of your analysis: Donald.  Sterling.   ;)

I'm more worried that we won't get the pick until 2016 than that it'll be a mid-round pick.  If we get it at all in 2012 or 2013, it'll be the #11 pick, is what I think.

You can't be realistic without working under the assumption that Delonte West has a pretty big injury likelihood.  I don't think he is particularly more likely to be available for the NBA Finals, if the Celtics make it that far, than Jermaine O'Neal.  Counting on Delonte West to be your backup PG without a backup plan in case he is injured is about as intelligent counting on Jermaine O'Neal to be your backup center without a backup plan.

With the signings of Murphy and Pavlovic, I think that the health of Delonte West is currently the team's biggest weakness.  The best use of an open roster spot is to address that weakness.

What gets me is the espn "expert" team pretty much all said ainge made the big mistake of ANY deadline trades made.
I like perk and was shocked he was traded but then I heard the package and thought it was a great trade for us.  Krstic has really impressed me I thought he was more filler.

And I think they will.  there is 1 more move to make and I beleive it is PG.  When Chris Johnsons 10 day contract is up C's will not sign him for longer and bring in a PG. ( the persuit of Bibby shows that Ainge is looking at that )  IMO... Arroyo is the perfect fit for 3rd string PG

It's somewhat redundant to say the Clips did something stupidly. It's pretty much implied.

one second here.

teams can't trade consecutive first round picks so if the pick the C's got is for 2012 (and already traded away which is how they got it from OKC in the first place), how could the Clips have traded away the 2011 pick?

I'm not disagreeing with you if that's what they actually did but just trying to understand how they could have done it.  I'm missing something here.

honestly, I'd rather have it be in 2016 and unprotected at that point.  Blake will have moved on to greener pastures or had a career-ending injury as is the custom with all Clipper star players.
