Before we got Murphy it was reported that he was fielding calls from both Danny and Riley. I'd love to be able to hear those phone conversations (and any pitch conversations like that).

I probably would have said "Come on sign with us. Commmee oonn, comeeee oooonnn, we are awesome, come ooooooooooon"

I wonder if Danny's pitch was along those lines

I posted about this last night, and I think a lot of it had to do with unselfishness.

Murphy hinted at this in this article:

Quote
"It came down to the Celtics and Heat are both great organizations that really do play the right way. Going to the Celtics, I feel like I could help them, being another piece that could help them. They have had a lot of success over the past couple of years in the playoffs and I look forward to being out there."

I got ripped a bit last night because people rightly pointed out LeBron isn't a ballhog in the sense he must jack 30 shots a game.  However, LeBron, Wade, and Bosh certainly have given off the impression that it's all about them and them dominating the ball.

Here, our Big Three couldn't care less if they don't touch the ball for quarter, thus potentially giving role players more opportunities.

Other than that reasoning, I can't see why he came here.  Miami certainly would've offered more PT.

I 100% agree. I think the unselfishness of our entire team was  a huge factor. Didn't he specifically point out Rondo saying he "finds the shooters". This team is unselfish to a fault sometimes. When you look at the box scores for Miami their Big 3 will literally take like 95% of the shots.

I also think Doc might have been a big influence. He seems to be able to find roles for players no matter how much depth we have. When you look at Spolestra he's had starters switching roles throughout the season. First at center it was Anthony, then Z, now Dampier. With the Pg's it was Arroyo half a season then Chalmers. Eddie House went from getting DNP's to getting 20 minutes a night. I think Doc will figure out a way to use Murphy where I could see Spoelstra having trouble and ultimately maybe end up benching him
