GQ magazine ranks the Lakers fans at #15 in their 'Worst Sports Fans In America' list. The highest ranking of all NBA teams.

http://www.gq.com/sports/lists/201104/worst-sports-fans-in-america#slide=1

I've never picked up a copy of GQ... Might have considered doing so if they'd ranked them a hell of a lot higher than a ridiculous 15th! Which they deserve to be.

Loathsome, detestable show-ponies, just like the players they occasionally cheer on.

saw that article yesterday...GQ or not, ain't that the truth...was just talking to a Laker fan co-worker the other day and she said the "Lakers are playing bad lately huh?"...didn't even know they're 10-1 since the break...same person rubbing it in my face during the finals last year...really clueless and will totally forget about them when they're no longer relevant...GO CELTICS!!!

TP for your troubles, ryansdaddee - that must be torture.

You can bet your bottom dollar that once LA is disposed of by OKC, Dallas, San Antonio or - hopefully - Boston, that you won't hear a peep out of her....and hopefully the remainder of Laker nation will go into a several year hibernation as well.

That - will be good riddance, indeed.

It seems no matter where someone is, they are at risk of coming into contact with a typically clueless LA Lakers fan.

I work at a service/gas station 11pm-6am and the guy who delivers our bread around 3-4am is an expatriate Californian and Lakers fan, been living in Australia since the early 90's. He'll often ask how they're going, being sure to start taking notice when they're winning of course! As far as his knowledge of the team goes - I had to inform him what year the Lakers had the longest winning streak... Oh and that Shaq used to play for the Lakers ::) Very tempted to just conveniently leave that bit out during our occasional discussions of the NBA!

Not a bad bloke though, he gives me free loaves of bread every week. I sell him day-old donuts, muffins etc. ;) ;D

Hey guys I'm back...sorry it's been awhile...just went back to work after my paternity leave and I've been catching up with my day job...here's my latest take on the fakers in which i discuss how the lakers should try to avoid Perk, but God willing Perk gets his poetic justice...i still believe Kobe deliberately tried to get underneath Perk's leg and is the reason Perk tore up his knee...hope you enjoy

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

This article has the wrong argument.

OKC gave up their 2 shooting big men for Perkins...this actually weakens them against the Lakers.

No team that matches up with the Lakers size has succeeded.  What HAS succeeded against the Lakers is the use of stretch bigs like Jeff Green and Kristic.  Jump-shooting Bigs are murder on the Lakers because Gasol/Bynum have to get out of the paint.

Fisher couldn't keep up with Westbrook last year; so Bynum/Gasol were the last line of defense.

If you watched the OKC series, Westbrook was killing the Lakers because Kristic and Jeff Green were pulling Gasol/Bynum/Odom out of the paint because Jeff Green could shoot 3 pointers.

Look at every team the Lakers struggle with...it's always these outshooting bigs drawing Bynum/Gasol/Odom away from the paint:

Portland gives the Lakers the most trouble of any team.  They have no huge Centers but they have Lamarcus Aldridge and Camby who are solid in the midrange.  Wallace who plays 4 against the Lakers alot can hit the 3.

OKC screwed up trying to match the Lakers size, nobody has been able to do this.

Ainge actually made the right picks to combat the Lakers...he grabbed BOTH Kristic and Green for the outside shooting to pair up with KG/Shaq/BBD/Jermaine.  The Celtics are perfectly matched up against the Lakers, they can play in or out of the paint.  Health/Chemistry is the only issue, the quality is there.

OKC screwed up losing their two best shooting big men...this is why Kobe was smug; OKC has NO CHANCE vs the Lakers now.

Spurs/Mavs/Blazers with their outside shooting big men pose a much bigger threat (if healthy) than an OKC team now with nobody to draw Bynum/Pau from sitting in the paint to swat Westbrook's drives.

This is why the Lakers WANT the #1 seed and OKC in the 2nd round.  Of all 8 West Playoff teams, Hornets and OKC would struggle the most against the Lakers.  This would be 2 sweeps or near sweeps.

OKC will probably end up #4 and Hornets quite possibly will slip to #8.  These are the best possible matchups for the Lakers if the Lakers can grab #1.

Let Blazers, Nuggets, Spurs and Mavs slug it out...Lakers can avoid all of these tough teams until the WCF if they can get the #1 seed.

Makes a lot of sense.

When asked how much better the Thunder are after the addition of Perkins, Phil Jackson was reluctant to give the Thunder center any credit by responding, "I don't know about that."  and proceeded to read Perkins' stat line.

However, the "Zen Master" may have unintentionally sang the big man's praises.  Jackson rambled on, "He gives them an attitude...defensive toughness...he challenged Kobe, when Kobe set a pick on him...[He] got a technical on Kobe...That kind of animosity and toughness gives them kind of an identity...a bit more physical team.

THIS MAKES MORE SENSE TO ME...

Please God let the Thunder get a hold of the Lakers in the playoffs. I can definitely see OKC taking down LA this year.

Looks like Kendrick Perkins is now the NBA's resident LA Lakers hater, you should get him to guest write an article!  ;D Hating the Lakers is one of the few things I could imagine Perk sitting down and compiling an essay about!

Key Laker reserve Lamar Odom expressed that the loss may have been good for the team because they need to be humbled.  Really, Lamar?  Oh…dumb?  Whatever would possess you to make a statement like that?  And to have the audacity to claim you need humbling because you’re just so much better than them?

Perhaps this butt-kicking from an inferior opponent will wake up some of the Lakers, especially those that claim they would prefer not having to play so early.  David Stern may have to consider scheduling the Lakers’ games in such a way that he accommodates their lifestyle.  We all know from past playoffs, Lamar might still hit the club the night before a big game.  Why change that mentality against an opponent he deems beneath him?

You’re married now, Lamar.  Keep your butt at home.
