Wow, seems to have worked.

We would probably need to win all of our remaining games, but this 3 game slide by the Lakers has actually given us a shot at finishing with a better record than them, and the #2 seed in the East to boot.

It's hard to imagine this team defeating Chicago and Miami in a 4 day stretch and also getting motivated enough to defeat an admittedly terrible but still young and athletic Washington team twice.  Oh, and the Knicks.

The Celtics absolutely MUST finish with a better record than The Lakers.  It is probably going to come down to these two teams and home court is crucial.  I hope The Celtic veterans realize this and go all out the last 5 games.

Yesterday's Results:  First, if you missed it, we figured out the potential Lakers tiebreak situation - they definitely have the tiebreak on us, unfortunately.  Details here.

Meanwhile, in actual game action, the Bucks and Warriors each did us a huge favor last night, knocking off Miami and the Lakers, respectively.  We now are ahead of the Heat as well as possessing the tiebreak, are are tied with LA in the loss column. 

Additionally, the Mavs lost to Denver, while the Spurs blew out the Kings, officially clinching the West.  I'm going to re-remove them from the standings as we can't catch them anyway, which is all I care about.


Thursday, April 7th

Boston Celtics  54-23     3 (3)

Tiebreakers:  Boston clinched over Miami, Boston leads 2-1 over Chicago in first tiebreak, and 35-12 to 34-13 in second tiebreak, Chicago clinched over Miami.

Today's games: Huge game tonight against the Bulls - we need to win to have any chance at catching them, but we also need this game to stay even with the Lakers and ahead of Miami.  Should be a fun one.
