Danny would be really changing the paradigm if he brings in two young, talented, healthy players within the same month.  It'd almost be weird...

Heck, Krstic is healthy and only 27 too.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Donnie said this last night and I'm sure others have the same opinion, we need vets not young players looking for their next contract. I disagree with this. Lots of players have gotten paid by showing they can play elite defense on the top players in the league while putting three team above themselves. With the vets we have already on our team you won't see players come in and jack up a ton of shots, just scrap and play good defense.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I don't agree with Donny.  Brewer is not a rookie.  He's a smart player that knows his role.  Trying to do too much and playing horribly will not get him another contract.  But playing his role and helping win a championship will get him plenty of looks from other teams.  Plus, I bet Danny wants to hold onto him for the future.  So if that is the case and Danny lets him know it, I don't see a problem.  He'll fit in nicely here.  This is the right move.  Getting two young players that were lottery picks that are not too young to help win games, is genius, imo.

If we get him we'll have for the future:
Rondo, Baby, Jeff Green, Bradley.  At the very least, Danny will have added a couple of trade chips that teams would actually want.

I beg to differ. We dont need another young guy looking to prove himself. We need a veteran that is going to give us solid minutes and wants to win. Brewer is young, looking to become established, and fighting for a paycheck... We need someone proven who just wants to win and play selfish basketball to help the team. Brewer on Bryant and LeBron? Thats a scary though for us.

Danny doesn't agree with you and neither do I.  Corey is proven... proven that he can play defense in this league.  That's what we want him for.  He's played a role his whole career, I don't see him changing now.  I think he knows his limitations.

Danny is also trying to get younger.  Jeff Green, 24, Corey Brewer, 24, Krstic, 27.  Danny offered the Knicks Nate and a pick for him, so he definitely wants him.

Corey Brewer is also a player that the Celts looked long and hard at during the draft a few years ago.  I think his slashing abilities would compliment Rondo's game really well during the middle of quarters just as Tony Allen's did, but at the end of the game you switch back to your shooters because his offensive deficiencies will only be highlighted with Rondo out there.

Any time you have the opportunity to pick up a young long defender who has proven he belongs in this league, you take it especially when you are perennially drafting int he late 20's.

He'd be a very nice upgrade over Daniels

I don't think he is an upgrade over either one.  Daniels was playing very well, and despite his upside I'm not sure Green is going to help more than Daniels would have either.

Per Wojnarowski :

Corey Brewer expected to speak to Rick Carlisle, Gregg Popovich and Doc Rivers today, league source says. More teams calling free agent too.

I think we have to go for him.  Say, if Shaq and Jermaine recover with Brewer onboard and say Mo Peterson signs here that would be a heck of a lineup.  We 'd not even need Murphy.

If we add Brewer that's another 6 fouls to give on Wade or Lebron, Melo or Kobe.

If we can add him and Murphy look out! We would have a very nice 2nd unit out there and plus throw in a lineup like this and we could run a team outta town!

Rondo
Ray
Brewer
Green
KG

mo peterson? no thanks...really there isn't much to go after beyond murphy and brewer...boston would just be signing bodies for practice that wouldn't contribute anything

Does he really have slashing ability? I heard his handle is off the charts terrible for a perimeter player.

Tony had erratic but effective handle.

brewer's a defensive specialist at this point in his career.
he has offensive potential but his value is his ability to guard  the 2 and 3.
brewer and green will be hard on wade, labron. and make pierce's game so much easier.
